I was raised LDS and have experienced my fair share of strange events in my life, as has everyone here. But when I was 21, after spending about five years absent from church and finally questioning its ulitmate truths, along with those that claim to be held in every other religion on this planet, I came to the terrifying realization that there is absolutely nothing in this universe that can tell you what the truth is. I realized that all these ambiguous terms used in organized religion are merely designations to ideas, as it is with anything that must be translated from thought to reality. And then I realized that reality is merely thought, because all reality is merely transitory, secondary imformation. So I then came to the realization that it was up to me to determine what I truly believe, and that is this:
That we are here to gain a point of view that is entirely our own, and that "God" is merely a meeting point of all restrictive consciousness in the universe(s). We are one.

When you start tearing things apart, down to their most basic level as you are doing, you come to find that nothing is true, and everything is permitted. Interestingly, in keeping with the nature of paradox, you also find that everything is true, and nothing is permitted. I wish you the best in your search to make things make sense. It is the struggle of humankind to find meaning in an essentially meaningless universe, and to make life joyful in spite of this meaninglessness. No two human truths are the same. Just try to be happy.

let me tell u something, plain and simple. at the end of the day it does not matter which God u worship, what religion u belong to or how u worship. all that matters is that u be good to people around u. help the needy and make the community better. if u take all the positive aspects from a religion then incorporate it in ur life and if u follow - live and let live philosophy- trust me this earth will be a blissful Heaven. and this applies to each one of us.

instead of seeing the differences and arguing over varieties, we all should individually see what all faiths and religions have in common. take the good stuff and rule out the bad. its just like picking up the good stuff in grocery dept an leaving the bad stuff behind.

hope u find what u are seeking. and its good u question, for it will help u strengthen ur faith and make u stronger, so that u will stand up for what u want.

may the peace and blessings of Allah be on u all and may He guide u all on the right path. peace be to all.

I am sorry for you but the LDS church is not the true word of GOD. You need to read the real bible for yourself without all that other junk of JOSEPH SMITH thrown in. No wonder you are feel so betrayed. Really a relationship with God should begin with you and HIM. Not a church telling you their truth. The LDS church has changed so much of its writings over the years, no wonder you would be confused. Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever.

Religions use words to explain reality.
Are words enough to explain reality?
There must be something beyond words.
Like you say, there is absolutely nothing in this universe that can tell you what the truth is.
All the explanations are secondary information.
I've been reading about Advaita Vedanta which tells similar things about reality and that it can't be known and it can't be expressed in words.

that was cool. the only thing i would say to consider is that God can't be 'merely' anything - and that when you look at life and nature - there is a reason things work - a plan.
I agree we are all one and that the ultimate consciousness is God consciousness - but i think that's because the 'one' that we all have/are was created by God - our soul, spirit and physical genetics - and life's journey is to find that oneness and reconnect to the Source.

That's such a looong way to make a point. So here goes:

If none knows anything...
How would one know if "God" didn't put him / her on this earth to get rid of such pesky sinful soul once and for all?
Pray hard LDS, pray hard! LOL

(Sorry, I could be so bad sometimes.)

being raised in the LDS cult for 21 years i can understand your quandary, you must be very confused after being in a cult and lied to for 21 years. getting on your knees and praying to the ONLY GOD IN HEAVEN is the answer to your quandary... you sound confused ... stop over thinking. Just trust HIM.

Perception is not reality, but personal truths.

There is a truth beyond that.

Perception: the sky is blue.
Truth: the atmostphere is not blue in and of itself.

That was touching and a great way to look at life. Charles Manson felt the same way. Thank you for posting that!
