Thank you for your question.

I assume you are actually talking about the Athan (azan, call to prayer) that is amplified in many Masajid (plural of Masjid, which is the arabic word for Mosque) just the same as the bells in a Christian Church are most often a recording played over loudspeakers nowadays in many parts of the world.

If you are talking about the actual prayers, then it is simply so that the worshipers can hear what the Imam is saying, especially the takbirs which indicate the movement from one position to another. But the reality is that no matter how large the crowd, they could do without a microphone.

If you are talking about the Khutbah (Sermon) delivered as part of the Friday prayers, again, it is so that in large crowds the Khatib (person delivering the sermon) can be heard. In very large Masajid, like the Jamma Masjid in New Delhi, upwards of 60,000 people will be there. A microphone makes it easier to hear. This is just like a large church or cathedral where the priest or minister uses a microphone to deliver the sermon or readings, etc.

As far as women going to the Masjid, many before me have answered this but to summarize:

1. Women ARE allowed but not requred to attend prayers at the Masjid.

2. This was instituted in order to make it easier on the women who were taking care of young children. (Personally I would extend that dispensation on single fathers who have no other caregiver to turn to)

3. There are many hadith that indicate that women and men were present at discussions, prayers, jummah and etc. AND that they were not separated in different spaces.

Peace and Blessings,

Salim

I find your question literally funny.

The function of the mike in muslim prayers (generally at mosques or in which involving large number of jama'ah) is to amplify the voice of the imam so that the verses he cites can be heard clearly. If he is confident that his voice could be heared by all his jama'ah without using a mike then by all means, he would not have to use it. It not a must, if that's what you're thinking.

Should the muslim ladies you know won't go to the mosque, it is simply because they choose not to.

Muslims (men or women) are not obligated to go to pray in mosques (as many believe) as they can do so at home as well but if you can manage to squeeze it into your busy schedule to go and pray in the House of God (mosque) instead of just at home, why wouldn't you? However for Friday Prayers, it is compulsory for the men to come together and pray as a group (jama'ah) of 40 people or more led by an imam (mike or no mike :p). This can be done anywhere convenient to support such a big group of people as long as there is space and it is most importantly clean and thus, normally done in mosques (being the House of God and because it is always clean and well maintained) but a good sized, clean hall will do just as well.

This is not compulsory for muslim women as they can just stay at home or wherever they are and perform Zohor prayers instead. However, should they want to join the men for Friday Prayers, of course they can as long as there is a separate section for women jama'ah as in Islam, adults (those who has reached puberty) men and women who is not related by blood (mahram) or are not spouses, could not mingle.

Why the Muslims pray in mikes?
Good question.
To cause public nuisance!
Many scientific inventions are misused and mike is one among them. It is not only with Muslim community alone, but all others are also misusing the public address system.

No religious books ask their follower to use mike or burst crackers and cause nuisance to others. Silence, (Shaanthi- as we call in Sanskrit) is a must for every one, we cannot expect silence alone everywhere, however these types of nuisance-use of mike in Mosque/ Temple/ Church etc are definitely avoidable.

Every morning the Muslims shout on their mike to awake their followers. What is the necessary? Who are they to wake up those who are not willing to get up early or willing to go to the Mosque, especially in a secular country like India? The Hindus also do the same…they play their religious songs, even earlier than the Muslims, in their Temples and disturb the public.

All the religious functions and activities should be done either in side the four walls of their respective Worshiping Places or in their home without causing any disturbance or nuisance to others. In India the festival season has begun, in every nook and corner they put a temporary tent and install their God called Ganpathy and play songs through the mike for all the ten days and make it compulsory to every one to listen to their song whether one wishes or not. The Navaraatri, Dewali etc etc will follow immediately after this where mikes are misused.

Now a day mike is misused for all-purpose –I AM TALKING ABOUT INDIA. No marriages, no inaugurations, no religious functions are celebrated without causing public nuisance by playing songs and making every one to listen compulsorily through mike.

Finally what I wish to say is –using mike for prayer is a sin-applicable for all religions, hence it should be banned.

When people say why Muslims don't let women allow women in mosques, I ask them to bring me the verse of Quran that says such thing like how Bible tells women to not open the mouth and stay quite in church. There is no such verse in Quran.

There is however a Hadith (tradition of prophet Muhammed) about this issue and I don't recall the exact words but the sum is something like this:
The prophet was telling the followers (men AND women) IN the mosque about the significance of praying in mosque and one women stood up and said she had young kids and it was hard for her to take care the family, raise the kids and come to mosque to catch the prayer for all 5 prayers.
Prophet Muhammed then said that women who pray at home will be just as rewarded to those who come to mosque and pray.

No, we can pray in the mosque here. But in a other part of the mosque. We can't pray with men. But most of the Muslim women prefer to pray in their home.

If you mean the Athaan...It is done through the mike to call all Muslims male and female to prayer.

Muslim ladies are allowed to go to mosque where I come from. Most female who have children and have their menses stay at home by choice.
Can you imagine the distraction If a baby is crying while the mom is making her namaz?

Muslim men do not allow the women to go where they go especially the mosque. As for praying in mikes, only the priest (Emhum) uses the mike so that the others follow in on his prayer...

No. From what i have heard, Huckabee became something of a christian neocon fascist, so i'm happy a minimum of that he's out. on the different hand, McCain by no skill sounded that sensible to me, so if I had to make a call on between him and Romney i might want to likely p.c.. the latter. in the present day i desire the republicans do not get in in any respect, even with the undeniable fact that, the superb aspect the united states needs is more desirable economic problems with the style Bush all started.

How will the ustadj (muslim holy man) be heard if he doesn't talk into the mike.

As for the women. We don't forbid them to go to the mosque to pray. Although it is not necessary or required of them to go to the mosque.

Peace.
