I have looked up the recipe to beshbarmak and it says 'add any spices'. A young Kyrgyzs that I know is staying in London studying and is really missing his home. As we are having a bbq on Sunday and he is coming along, I thought it would be nice to cook him something from 'home'. However, all recipes say, add 'any' spices. It would be good to know, traditionally what is added so that he gets a taste of 'home'.

Thanks.

Oh, you are so nice. I was in Krygyzstan a few years back and ate this beshbarmak. It means five fingers by the way. I definitely recall red hot chili peppers but not too many. My Krygyz friends in China though seemed to miss bbq lamb meat the most. Shishkebab style, so you might give that a try too.
