It's quite simple, really. If you don't believe as they do, especially if you have proof to refute they're assertions, then you are the enemy.

Its because they really don't have an answer. The majority belong to the biggest congregation the Paul spoke to - the ignorant brethern.
You see most Christians don't read scripture, they just have the "happy" teachings of their pastors, preachers and scholars. Nevermind if they are right or wrong, or that what they teach isn't found in scripture or even biblical.
Its like when I question their theology of the trinity, the first response before given some kind of answer is always "Its a mystery of God, but I will try to explain...."
That's like shooting yourself in the foot before running a race. How can someone believe in a concept when they cannot explain it themselves?
I wouldn't worry about it. Your gonna look far and wide and you won't find a Christian who knows what they are talking about scripturally. Just keep reading, ask God for answers, and be patient. God will send someone with the answers you seek. But I can tell you this - whomever He sends, won't be part of any religion, but follows His truth.

A true believer in any faith should always welcome any honest question asked.
I was raised a Christian, but my beliefs are varied from any formal religion due to those questions, and their answers.
At one point I took some time to consider the attributes we all are brought up with, and that opened Pandora’s Box.
We are taught that we should do something for another just because it needs doing not for the recognition, yet I was taught about a God who demands praise for his every deed.
We are all taught about unconditional love but seldom feel it.
We are supposed to love others even if they disappoint us. But like the God of my fathers we condemn others for stepping over some line.
As these hypocrites mounted up, I adopted another way of looking at God, and both he and I are stronger because of it.
It started out with the simple rules like treat others as you would like to be treated. Stop passing judgment on others. And adopt those parts of anyone else’s God that is kinder and more loving than my own.
God became a work in progress, better than the one that they tried to impose on me as a child. It made faith a growing thing in my life.
Christianity wasn’t unworkable within this new found path. In fact it is still growing as well.
It did cut off the” Thou Shalt Not” crowd. I don’t condemn much in others beliefs unless it’s just unhealthy for other people or the world in general.
There are indeed those who say you must believe to be saved. To them I say, “I have been saved. From them”
Religion is far to often followed blindly by those souls seeking faith, and the self appointed zealots who see their way as the only true path to God.
I believe that the Christian God is all about forgiveness and love, and leaves the condemning to others who are the real lost ones.
Any religion is full of those intolerant other views than their own.
So I don’t go to them to find truth. In fact I don’t go to them at all.
But I do have some answers, and even more questions about faith and have come to believe that the seeking of those answers is what life is really all about.
If asked a question about religion I always try to answer it honestly, but remind others that it’s just how I feel, and admit that sometimes I don’t have all the answers, but have also learned that I don’t half to blindly accept others answers ether.
Enlightenment is seeking truth, not just having it.
I don't find honest questions as a threat nor are the pointed ones, but only the honest ones deserve, or even want an answer. The pointed ones are coming from someone seeking an argument and I don't entertain those even for a minute.

1. I don't feel threatened.
2. I don't insult you.
3. Or bash you.
I answer the question honestly.

I know this is a "trap" question. I usually try not to bash or insult an honest question. Its just tit for tat. If the question is insulting or prejudicial this it makes me mad. But if it asked even as a debate question, I 'm up. I love debates.

Thank you for noticing that I used the wrong spelling for the word butt.I wont to know why you didn't notice I also chosen in the Check Spelling choices the wrong word for the correct spelling for the word view.I didn't mean to use the word venue. If I could, I would give you 5 or more points for a spelling Creation. Now to answer your question, They don't like the truth.

Well, what was the question you asked that they acted this way?
Just because people are "christians" doesn't mean they have an answer for everything about their religion. They just believe by faith but they have a real hard time explaining why.

How come non-christians do the same thing??
*rolls eyes*
Don't lump all Christians together like that. Most Christians don't do any of those things. And on that note, from the tone of your question right here, you probably ARE belittling their religion. Maybe you shouldn't ask questions designed to piss people off?
(from a non-Christian)
