I re-joined weight watchers agian yesturday!!!!!!!!!!!!
Have you ever been to weight watchers and whats the most youve lost in a week, and how did you do it. I know i need to exersie but i dont know what exersises to do, my problem area is my tummy. After having to kids i find it really hard to shift my baby tummy. All answers greatly recived, i really what this weight off by Christmas.

Weight Watchers....

My wife has an additional 20 pounds she wants to get rid of, weight watchers works great for her. I believe her most lost in one week was 4 pounds. But you should know loosing too much in a week is counter productive and the chances that it will be gained back are pretty high if your yo yo-ing like that. Hence all the people I personally I know that have joined ww's multiple times.

My case, WW would not work for me, my diet started in my head, not what I was going to eat, etc. Deciding to loose 5 pounds or 100 pounds starts with you making the decision to not eat the crap you know you shouldn't anyways! I decided to loose weight about 11 months ago, I didn't take any pills, didn't get the gastric bypass, I didn't ask why me, I knew why I was fat, I ate too much and moved my *** to little. I stuck with a routine, cooked my own meals (which I still eat to this day) and just made the decision to not be fat anymore, bottom line. Total I have lost.....minus 126 pounds! Do I have a goal weight, NOPE. How will I know when I get to where I want to be I have know clue but I'll know! Don't worry so much about how much you'll loose in a week, more importantly DECIDE that you'll do it, decide that being fat is no longer for you, decide that people will look at you and say wow she looks great, decide to LIVE!

Here's what I wish someone had told me years ago:

1 - Diets don't really work as losing weight is all about changing your lifestyle - both calories (and type of calories) as well as exercise. I saw a tv programme a couple of weeks ago, and they said that the majority of people who won the prizes for greatest weight loss on Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, etc gained back part or all of the loss.

2 - Our bodies, in particular for women, don't handle fat and calorie intake the same way as we age. So you should be able to maintain your correct body weight by decreasing calorie intake in your 30's and 40's because it really is true that "a second on the lips is a year on your hips" - it take much longer to get rid of excess weight as you age, so reducing what you eat goes a long way. I started to lose weight when I made myself smaller portions for everything - just a 10% reduction can help!

3 - Exercise is really more important as you age - which I didn't really fully understand - until now. I've joined a gym, and can see that the brisk walking I'm doing on the tread mill is much better than the walking I was doing around my neighbourhood. I can get up to faster speeds, go for longer times and have much less risk of injury. I've also started doing some weights, and now find my strength and stamina is increasing just over the few months since I started. But my tummy is starting to go now than I've been working on the exercise ball crunches - just needed to do a few three times a week to start, and increased the number for each session as I got better at it, what a difference!

The best way to lose weight I've found is get up early and do half an hours exercise to a DVD- if I leave it to later I just end up finding other things to do and don't exercise. I have several DVDs ranging from 20 minutes to an hour- its great cos you feel virtuous all day!!!. Davina and Beverley Callard (Ultimate results)are easy to do and are quick- see play.com for DVDs that are only £5.99 and free delivery. Then eat a good breakfast - porridge/ good cereal with lots of fruit and fill yourself up - you'll then last most of the morning and the exercise will have increased your system to burn up calories. Eat sensibly and don't let yourself get hungry. A good tummy exercise is to lie on your back and raise your legs in the air and push your legs up so your bum is off the floor - repeat. Also lie fully down and raise your legs to about 30 centimetres off the floor - hold and repeat - this will get rid of your lower tummy wobbles.

WW is great! I would recommend starting with the points system, and only moving to the core plan when you know you can be disciplined. Here are some of my tips:

1) Find your weaknesses and plan for them. You are GOING to cheat, might as well be prepared for it. So sit down and honestly look at what you are eating that will derail your diet, and try to limit how much of that you have in the house.

2) Use your 35 flex points for cheating, and never neglect your daily points. For example, my weakness is anything baked- cookies, pies, cakes, etc. If I'm going to have a couple of cookies, I NEVER let myself take it out of my 22 daily points. If I do that, then I'll eat less healthy stuff just so I can sneak the cookies in. You could spend all your daily points on a box of PopTarts, and not eat anything else, but you wouldn't be healthy.

3) Follow the serving guidelines- eat as many servings of fruits, veggies, meat, dairy, etc. as they say. Don't just rely on the point system to make you healthier- follow the diet plan fully. This will actually help you eat healthier, and train your body to like and want a healthier balanced diet. It will also make exercise easier, as you will feel so much better.

4) Start exercising slowly. If you overdo it, you'll get overwhelmed and quit. Walking is great, and sometimes all you can do. But a walk around the block is better than 10 minutes on the couch. So even if you can't get out to do your 45 minutes on the stairmaster at the gym, you should still try to find something. Find stupid things you can do during your day. For example, I have a 1 year old- every time I pick him up, I try to remember to do 5 squats while holding him. It's not to replace actual weight lifting, but it keeps the blood flowing.

5) Whatever else you tell anyone else- don't lie to yourself. Own your bad days, love yourself through them, and don't freak out. Like I said before, you will cheat. Accept it now, don't beat yourself up, and start over the next day. But don't try to pretend you're being healthy when you're not- that defeats the purpose.

I lost all my baby weight (and there was 40 pounds of it!) plus 10 more in 5 months with WW. And I eat healthier and feel better. I recommend it to EVERYONE!!

Oh my god I don't know how many times iv been to weight watchers lol

The most I lost in one week was 7 pounds

All i did was drink more water Cut down the size of my meals and I cut out the coke I was a big fan of that lol

I know its hard when you like your food but you can do it I'm due to go back next month as cant go to gym at the moment kids not at school until next month.

I joined the gym for the first time in my life and yes its hard work but it does help

I've not been to weight watchers myself but I would imagine that it's great for support and advise from people who are all trying to achieve the same things.

You're right, exercise is key. People talk about how many calories to cut down and all, but in the end, the act of cutting down calories can feel like you're depriving yourself and ultimately a negative experience. What exercise does, other than the obvious effect of increasing your metabolism, is raise your motivation by getting you to actively do something positive and contribute towards your well being.

As for what exercises to do, ask yourself what you would like to do. Exercise is best when it's fun and you enjoy it, and feel like doing more of it. Dragging your heels at the gym and just going through the motions is not going to give you long terms benefits. In fact it's only going to put you off exercising altogether as it creates a negative notion about it.

So what do you like doing? Cycling around the park? Walking the dog? Walking with the kids? Playing with the kids at the park? All these things can be made to count towards your exercise goals. Just try to do the active things you like doing, and have fun.

Fit in other things that you do everyday that would take up that bit more energy, like going up an extra flight of stairs, or walking that extra bit. For instance, if you live on the first floor, try walking up the stairs to the third floor and then come back down to your floor. Or get off the bus a couple of stops early and walk the rest of the way. I'm sure you've heard all these things before.

If you're really keen to start to exercise more intensely, pick an activity like swimming, or running, or cycling. Start easy, and set yourself goals and targets. Make them realistic so that it takes a bit of effort to get there, but not so much that they're not achievable. For instance, if you choose to swim, and say you can swim 10 lengths of the pool in 10 minutes, try and set a goal of 12 lengths in 10 minutes. If you find that too easy, set a higher goal of say, 15 lengths. Set yourself a realistic timeframe in which to achieve the goals. The point is that you keep challenging yourself, and that you stay motivated by achieving the goals that you've set. The sense of accomplishment will keep you wanting more.

Also, have a friend to share your experiences with. If he/she doesn't want to join in the actual exercise, just listening to your achievements and being supportive about what you want to achieve can do a tremendous amount in motivating you.

I suggest you get Paul McKenna's books/cds etc available from bookstores or check out QVC.co.uk, channel 16 on freeview. He feels if you go "on" a diet you have to come "off" a diet, advocates health eating. Tone tummy with repetive exercises, I have a stepper machine, which I just jump on during adverts when watching TV aim to do about a 100 a day and it is helping, swiming is good too. I have been over weight all my life, have been following his advice and for the past two years have not only lost 20lbs.... but it has stayed off and I can eat anything I want!!!

I'm doing weight watchers now,lost 12lb but put 5lb back on -just pure greed. Back on track now though. Go walking,thats how i lose it and a few situps etc. Am hoping to lose before xmas also, know how you feel!

I lost 49 pounds with WW, at a rate of approx. 1.5lb a week. I have kept the weight off for more than 3 years!

not been but the best exercise in my opion is areobics, if u dont want to go to thr gym u can buy a dvbd which will also focus on just your tummy for a bit.
