I wish I could find myself a girlfriend who is very possessive over me. It wouldn't be annoying. I'd find it flattering.

Insecurity with themselves. That is a weakness in their
character. Which in turn, makes them jealous when someone
else pays attention to you. They want to OWN you. You are
property to them, not a person. A possessive can become
abusive because of their insecurity. They will put the blame on
you. If you didn't wear that dress or skirt or shorts, the men
wouldn't stare at you. They will pick at your hairstyle, anything
possible to pull you down, with them. Instead of Lifting you UP.

Being insecure and selfish! This could be a result of too much love for a person that you end up being desperate to the extent of being possessive. You always wish to be around that person at all times.

I THINK PEOPLE BECOME POSSESSIVE WHEN THEY FEEL THREATENED. MY HUSBAND BECAME POSSESSIVE AFTER WE GOT ENGAGED, BUT I HAD TO ASSURE HIM THAT ALL I WANTED WAS HIM. AND WHEN YOU CAN DO THAT FOR YOUR LOVED ONE, I THINK THAT IS THE BEGINNING OF ENDING THE POSSESSIVENESS. EVERYONE HAS A FEAR OF LOOSING THE PERSON THEY LOVE. SOME JUST NEED A LITTLE MORE REASSURANCE THAT THEY ARE THE ONLY ONE.

Well, they can start out feeling just plain alone, and then it turns to bigger things. Like they only want the things that THEY want done, and they can sometimes feel like you belong to them and no one else. Sometimes it can turn violent because the person is too possessive, and just won't give them any space.
