Okay for starters Agnosticism is the philosophical view that the value of certain claims as truth—particularly theological claims regarding the existence of God, gods, or deities—are unknown, inherently unknowable, or incoherent, and therefore, irrelevant to life (Wikipedia).

I believe I'm a good person. I'm never intentionally mean to someone, I drink but never to the point I've run across a sporting field naked, I believe you can follow whatever faith you choose, be with whomever you want regardless of their sex and couldn't care less what colour you are...why is it then, that according to most religions I'm going to hell just because I won't say I believe in God?

If there's a God out there? Great! Allah? Fantastic! Vishnu? Brilliant! Why though, when I'm standing at the pearly gates is St Peter handing the bathroom keys to anybody who repents on their deathbed and says the magic words "I believe in God"? And I'm hustled down the side stairs like an unwelcome in-law?

"If there's a God out there? Great! Allah? Fantastic! Vishnu? Brilliant!"

No, what's brilliant is this question!

I am right there with you. If this Heaven place exists (fat chance, but for the sake of this conversation...) and I line up for my eternal pass, why would I be denied as some have suggested?

I've been told by several people that I'm a superlative Christian... yanno, 'cept for the whole not - believing - in - God thing. But maybe this God guy won't see it that way. Maybe when this guy says "lead a decent life" he REALLY means "lead a decent life only if you ALSO have chosen the one true belief... if not, don't bother, I won't let you in, neener neener neener."

What a drag!

i am agnostic, but it sound like you are just confused.

if you realize that agnostic means the existence of "god" is neither provable or dis-provable, then you should also realize that the keys and the pearly gates are not provable either.

and therefore why would you assume you would be "hustled down the side stairs"??

if you were as agnostic as you say you are, then you would not be hung up on these worries of wether or not you get to go to heaven.

maybe you should re-evaluate you position. Agnostic is not the catch-all label for undecided!

Questioning the existence of God is not uncommon. It is just another way of seeking God, just a little more indirectly. Keep being a good person and keep seeking the truth, God will reveal himself to you when you are ready. At present he is being very patient with you and not hustling you down the back stairs just because you doubt him. I pray that you find the answers you need.

it is simple, you are agnostic and you don't deserve the keys to that door. NO other reason, you just don't need the keys as you don't believe that the door will lead any where. So why have them.

YOU are a good person and yes it is your right to believe in what ever you want to believe in. Lucky your have that freedom. I know in Muslim land you don't. You either believe or you die. thank your Agnostic God you are here and not there.

I know agnostics don't have gods..just kidding.

Remember the words of comics and sci-fi writers

"If you buy the premise. you'll buy the bit"

If you are an Agnostic as you claim...then the answer is obvious
If you are an Atheist....then, likewise, the answer is obvious

If you are approaching both...an Agnostic Atheist...then

"I don't know and I don't care "....is all you need

If you want to believe in something/someone

start with yourself read some "Gnostic" writings

and just like Dorothy, you might find that "there's no place like home"..

well, i'm a Christian. and for a christian, it's not necessarily that you have to believe in God. the Bible says that demons believe in Gods and they tremble. so what? they can't go to heaven. it's one thing to believe in God and another to love and obey him because you want to. and for Christians, which separate from other religions, is that Jesus is the son of God who died and rose again from the dead for our sins. and then it's another thing to not believe in God but to be a good person.

i believe morals come from God, there are debates that irreligious people can have morals, but they ultimately come from the 10 commandments. being agnostic...you have to believe in the truth that God is the one and only. and not all religions are the same or people shouldn't just believe in what they believe in and that's fine. it's not. because that's relativism. it's not all the same because they contradict each other. and if one is the truth, shouldn't you want to share that with others and save their souls? (cuz i know some religions say you're not supposed to or don't have to spread teh word). but if you know it's true, and you love God, wouldn't you want to share the good news and save mankind and risk your life to do it? like some missionaries out there that do that now? but...yea, you can't just say "i believe in God." he'll know the truth in that.

because this world, hereafter, the heaven and hell is created by God So if you say I do not believe you and ask for keys for His heaven, it is somehow difficult Heaven is a reward for people who both loves God and behave according to His love Love is something both should be said and shown and there is no discrimination if you love Him show your sincerety by your behaiviors you get keys no matter you are presedent or street man All the best : )

I definatley don't think that you'll suffer. My friends are Jehova's Wittnesses and they say that only 144,000 people will actually go to Heaven. If that's true, then I'd say most of us will be without keys lol. That don't mean we'll be dancin' on a grill though either :-P

Who says that you do? Which religious group are they from and why do you believe them?

If you are Agnostic - then you have to have faith that your works will get you through because you can not know God personally.

What can I say to that?
