Blueberries continue to generate increased interest for their potential health giving properties. According to research currently underway at the USDA Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging at Tufts University, blueberries top the list of some 40 fruits, juices, and vegetable in their antioxidant activity. Concord grape juice is next on the list with about two thirds of the antioxidant activity of blueberries followed by strawberries, kale, and spinach.
Blueberries are just now being recognized for their high antioxidant activity due to sophisticated new techniques for studying the antioxidant properties of food. The NABC (North American Blueberry Council) is in contact with researchers at Tufts University and will continue to monitor the progress in this area.
Blueberries have long been prized as a great tasting and value added fruit. The fact that blueberries are low in calories, virtually fat free, a good source of fiber, and now found to be high in antioxidants makes the blueberry an even more attractive fruit to the consumer and industrial user both here at home and abroad.
Is eating a lot of blueberries and strawberries the secret to living a long and healthy life? As it turns out, those two fruits, particularly blueberries, are among natures most powerful antioxidant compounds, according to a recent laboratory analysis of about 40 fruits, vegetables, and juices by the US Department of Agriculture.

Short answer is not exactly. Most fruit and vegetables contain loads of healthy goodies. Things like vitamins, minerals and even phytochemicals are all beneficial. If he is referring to the genetic altercation of the food system he could possible have a point. Biology is effected by it's surroundings and though scientists who promote GM foods are quick to say there is no harm are not fully considering the effects(nor are the able too) on our biochemistry. Then again there are some genetic modifications that do become beneficial. Disease resistant meats are a great example. Things like mad cow and other diseases can be eliminated. Another potential benefit is improved nutritional value(vitamins, phytochemicals, etc). However, understand even though our medical science has progressed exponenitally and we understand better the compounds and chemicals that effect our physiology, we still do not fully understand the full effects and roles of our human biochemistry so one can not say for certain. Then there is the organic vs non-organic debate. This again can go both ways. For example organic pesticides are said to be more harmful to human health than say synthetic pesticides(not to mention synthetic can be better for enviroment and biodiversity) So really, it's not something that is exact on. It's more yes and no on certain things.

I would eat an orange at least once a day because of it's high concentration of vitamin C and also it's antioxidants (they help you stay younger looking). An apple a day doesn't hurt either.
