OK the rest of the people who answered this are idiots, let me help answer your question.
Fedor is the best fighter in mma presently, if u think matt hughes can beat him, i think you dont know anything about mma and should not answer any more martial arts questions, because your a complete diplit kangaroo cock. Fedor weighs 235 going into a fight and Matt hughes weighs 170 going into a fight. Are u kidding me? Fedor isnt some fat guy either, ur such a dumb *&^@ if u think Matt Hughes is the best fighter in the world.
ok enough of that pestering. Fedor the best fighter in the history of mma? Its hard to say because thats like comparing Babe Ruth to Barry Bonds, or Lebron James to Michael Jordan. So i cant give u a exsact answer on this buddy. But i can tell u this, Fedor Emelianenko is currently the best fighter in the world. Not all from genetics, he is the best well rounded fighter out there. Mirko only stands up. other words Josh Barnett favors the ground strongly. Fedor doesnt care, he will kill u either way.
Would Fedor beat any other fighter in their prime in the history of mma? Yes i would have no doubt that he would. The fighting styles evolved so much that, the older fighters would get caught by almost everything new to them. You could not name one person on planet Earth in the history to match up against Fedor, except Bruce Lee, he was very real in fighting most people dont know about him. Bruce Lee had very strong hits, he breaks punching bags with his side kick, no lie. Bruce Lee is only stand up, so if he got to the ground with Fedor, fedor would pound his teeth out. But ill name some people who "think they can beat Fedor"

The only person i think that can beat Fedor or has the slightest chance would be Mark Hunt because i think fedor would stand up with him, and mark hunt can take hits and give them back. I would give Hunt 1/5 chance of winning.

I feel he may very well be the real deal. I think its' impressive that Fedor has had real success in totally "legit" sports like judo and sambo, and now he's working with Hoost to improve his percussion techniques. I hope Pride's present troubles don't impact on him. Win or lose he is definitely a credit to MMA.

No. He is the best in his current weight class. It used be Cotoure or Bas Rutten, but their retired, and I don't think the could beat Fedor know, but they could have in their prime.
The other prominent fighter in his class is Matt Hughes.
