well, a ski resort is a ski place with a town nearby r high-end accomodations and other facilities at the base of a mountain. besides skiing, some resorts also have other sport activities to engage into, like indoor swimming, gaming rooms and other local entertainments.
ski resorts are normally located in hight mountain areas or atleast well-built-up hills - for optimum snow coverage. The runs or trails in these ski areas are usually marked and known as pistes. ski areas typically have one or more chair lifts for moving skiers rapidly to the top of hills, and to interconnect the various pistes. rope tows can also be used on short slopes (usually beginner hills or "bunny slopes"). larger ski areas tend to use gondolas for transportation across larger distances within the ski area.
becuz skiing is highly dangerous, ski resorts have basic first aid facilities, and have a kind of ski patrol - to ensure that injured skiers are rescued. high mountains sometimes use helicopters to evacuate fatally injured skiers. ski resorts usually have hotels that offer après-ski activities, including cocktails, dining and live music. traditional ski resorts often have health spas with saunas, hot tubs, masseuses, and swimming pools.
