About 4 months ago my parents decided, that since I would not add them as a "friend" on myspace, so they could access all of my personal stuff, that they would parental control the internet to block this site. This means for every single site to be accessed, they have to enter name and password. I am sick of this. It is impossible to do anything. I am not a bad teenager. My parents just do not like myspace and cannot think of another way to keep me off it, so right now alll I can access without their help is ebay and google. Which doesnt help because i cannot actually click any of the links provided for my anwers from google.
Suggestions for getting them to remove the parental controls?

you have to outsmart them thats all...
so here is my suggestion...
public libraries usually have computers with internet connections, go there... if they have myspace blocked, go through a proxy server like at http://www.ninjaproxy.com or something.
also for the computer at home, just create another account DUH!! dont tell your parents about the new one, use a different new yahoo email address....
so the one you add them to on your friend list is your fake site where you put stuff you want them to see.
use your real one for the good stuff,
and always delete your history, temporary internet files and cookies after you go online.

That's a tough question. I let my kid go where she wants online. We've had long talks about IM/chat & email risks. The rule is NO IM or email to/from people myself or her mother don't know. I'd like to think I could trust her. But at 12, she just doesn't understand the potential risks. It's a scary world we live in and some sickos do take advantage of kids. So I monitor her usage. I get reports emailed to me a few times a day, and look over the programs that were run, the wbsites visited & if need be - the keystroke log & screenshot log. I haven't had to pull up the keystrokes or screenshots yet, and I hope I never do. If I thought, even for a minute, that it would prevent her from being hurt - I'd clamp down on that access faster than you'd think possible.

Well you can move out on your own and buy your own internet access. Until then your parents are responsible for you and getting you to that independent stage in your life as intact as possible. All the news programs about myspace being a predator site have parents freaked out so don't blame them and try to understand they are just doing their job as best as they can.

They're trying to make sure you don't get in over your head on the internet. You wouldn't be the first. Refusing to add them as a friend makes it seem like you're hiding stuff from them, and makes you seem irresponsible and sneaky. Now you need to mend fences, finding ways to impress them with your willingness to let them monitor what's going on.
If you're not a bad teenager, why hide what you're doing? (yeah, I know, I wouldn't want my parents to know what I'm doing either. But I'm too old for them to control any more.)

This might not be nice for you but I'm sure that the reason is that they care that much for you and want to protect you. I think you must be happy that they love you that much...and find a way to "unlock certain sites" where you have free reign. Start with small steps...if they see they can trust your judgement, I'm sure they'll let up.
