I think the money wasted on Iraq could've aggressively propelled NASA into high gear with much needed space exploration missions. If we are to gain the best successful chance of a safe manned Mars exploratory mission---we need to return to the Moon, which can serve as an excellent training camp.
We also need to look into better protections of Earth by means of space exploratory missions and I support robotic probe missions to other planets for a better understanding of what is in our own galaxy.
I truly believe Planet X, Earths complete twin, is out there too...and we need to find it---ASAP. For I feel God would be disappointed if we didn't take on the challenge of emerging mankind up from it's mistakes from it's prevalent planetary damage already done and learn from them.
And I think Americans should rasie hell with their elected officials in Washington--and call for an end to Iraq war and diversion of the monthy $50 BILLION price tag be sent to NASA for space exploration research. It's time to again "light the candle and get the rockets back to the Moon".

Space exploration is becoming more important than ever with the probability that humanity will need to expand. I'm not quoting Stephen Hawking By the way. Our population is bursting at the seams, and pretty soon, there wont be enough in food or water to go around. A large number of people are going to have to die for the rest to live. If we start to comercialize the space program and start expanding, then the Human race has the potential to survive.

Yes, for the following reasons:
1) Human curiosity just can't be stopped, thus we need to find out what is there outside of this planet.
2) At the rate at which we reproduce, we'll end up needing more resources than this planet can provide. At some point in time (who knows when?) space colonization will become necessary.

Yup.
I must specify that I'm not a religious person, but I've never heard anyone (like a preist or someone) saying that we're not supposed to set foot on other planets or anything.
They're there for a reason.
