ITS HARAAM?!!?!??!

I'm a muslim and i've never heard of this rule.
Lets analyize this. Rules have reasons to them ofcourse, I don't think God would put a rule for without a reason, even if he did i think muslims should follow the rule. but yet i haven't heard of a rule that doesn't make sense to me.

What does music do? entertain..entertainment is enjoyment. Which is good. Good things in life are needed to be happy. And I'm sure God wants us to be happy and obey him.

What what if the enjoyment went a little to far? (i.e explicit muslim about killing mother from eminem. or killing people from 50 cent) this kind of stuff promotes violoence and the bad things in life right? killing people is bad. When Isam "forbids" music it is to only make you aware of what you listen to.. listen to music telling you how fun it is to do anal sex makes a horny little teenager child wanna do it without marriage...do it with too many now your chance is stds appear? making sense?

What ever it is said in islam it is for your own good. trust me. I hope you took the time to read this. and please ask me if you have any other questions or if i confused you.

God bless

you wont get to many answers because music is not forbidden in islam a lot of people like to say that it is but no where will you find in the Quran (koran ) or the hadiths to say music is forbidden that is why Yusef Islam (Cat Stevens) started back singing what is forbidden is for a person to say or listen to things that will draw you closer doing evil

I speculate the reason its not in the Koran is that it is not that significant an issue. I believe its derived from hadith. Maybe wrong..

If so look at hip hop.. "I like big buts .. " "Shake that..."

As to gabe's comment.. that is such a flawed and a biased opinion . ... the prohibition would be on both male and female..

I dont think its so much music is disallowed i think its instruments.. but not really sure.

According to some it is allowed, according to some it's OK sometimes, according to some it's never allowed. Here is an article you should read to help give you a better idea. The article included references from Hadiths.

I have never come across a verse in Quran forbidding us from listening to music.
Likewise for the Hadiths (traditions of prophet Muhammed)
Yes, using and listening to vulgar language is not allowed but one can make the difference with their common sense.
