this is for people who do not have chronic depression.
the way the human mind works is it files memories. much like a rolo-dex. which is why when someone mentions something your mind floods with memories or ideas. you simply opened the file.
if something tragic, or overwhelming has happened to you your brain has a real hard time filing the memory.
mean while it tosses and turns the memory around trying to find a place to put it. while it is doing that the memory torments you. this is totally normal.
the problem people have is they fight it, or they try to psycho-annylize themselves trying to find a way to stop the pain.
if you just relax and let the brain find a place to put it the pain will subside.
usually people end up getting mad, or depressed and start taking their aggression out on people who have nothing to do with what is going on. and the pain continues as long as you keep fighting.
remember knowledge is power. understanding the beast is the best way to defeat it.

know that the solutions i put up here will not work for everyone.
But i went through a 3 year bout with depression and it was a long hard struggle to get out but i finally did. i was determined to get out. so i used logic to dig myself out of my depressed state. Remember depression is hard to overcome because it seems like such an impossible journey. every time you fail you fall deeper. but if you travel in numbers it is a lot easier.
Looking back I do remember how it felt. So I swore to my maker that i would do everything in my power to bring as many people back with me as humanly possible. all of you who are depressed right now i consider my brothers and sisters. I want to shine a light into the darkness and see who follows the light.
I BELIEVE IN YOU!!! come with me and i will show you the warmth of the sunshine on your face once again.
with warm regards
walt

Very interesting.
Yes the brain, specifically the hypothalamus, does make more of any given emotion. They are small chain proteins called peptides. The peptides; we assemble them into certain neuropeptides or neurohormons, which match the emotional state.
They go into the pituitary , then into the blood stream, and into every cell in your body because every cell in your body has receptors to receive the peptides. A person can get so addicted to any emotion, that when they need a "fix" they can create scene or situation that will cause them to receive the emotion they are jonesing for. The reason you get addicted to an emotion is, each time the cell divides, there are more receptors for the over used emotion. So the same amount of peptides will elicit a much smaller response.

Thanks for the kind topic.

Just Wait
Blues Traveler

If ever you are feeling like you're tired
And all your uphill struggles leave you headed downhill
If you realize your wildest dreams can hurt you
And your appetite for pain has drinken its fill

I ask of you a very simple question
Did you think for one minute that you are alone
And is your suffering a privilege you share only
Or did you think that everybody else feels completely at home

Just wait
Just wait
Just wait
And it will come

If you think I've given up on you you're crazy
And if you think I don't love you well then you're just wrong
In time you just might take to feeling better
Time is the beauty of the road being long

I know that now you feel no consolation
But maybe if I told you and informed you out loud
I say this without fear of hesitation
I can honestly tell you that you make me proud

Just wait
Just wait
Just wait
And it will come
Just wait
Just wait
Just wait
And it will come

If anything I might have just said has helped you
If anything I might have just said helped you just carry on
Your rise uphill may no longer seem a struggle
And your appetite for pain may all but be gone

I hope for you and cannot stop at hoping
Until that smile has once again returned to your face
There's no such thing as a failure who keeps trying
Coasting to the bottom is the only disgrace

Just wait
Just wait
Just wait
And it will come
Just wait
Just wait
Just wait
And it will come
Just wait
Just wait
Just wait
And it will come

Thanks. I like what you wrote. I have basically the same ideas as you but in practice it is not so easy to accomplish. I also think that the brain produces certain chemicals increasing the depression, once it set in. Then you will need a whole lot of force and belief to reverse it again, back to a smile that comes from the heart. Thanks for the message, it is nice of you to take the time and write it down.

For some people it is almost impossible to "just relax and let the brain find a place to put the pain". Chemical imbalances in the brain may block people from calming down normally. Phobias, OCD, PTSD, anxiety..................some people just can't calm their minds on their own.
