If an inmate is serving time for a crime, he has the right to request funeral privileges by goIng through channels within the penal institution. The clergy within a penal system can be of great assistance.

If someone commits a murder and is serving time awaiting execution, he/she is usually placed on death row. The rights of the condemned are usually determined on a state by state basis as to privileges, method of execution, appeals, etc...

I don't know for sure what ur Q is, but prisoners don't have any
rights really. They gave up their rights when they commited
their crime(s). Depends on what they did too tho. If any inmate
does something very bad....you know....I say screw em, and I
mean that. Some people are just low lifes, and will stay that way.

I'm a little confused by your question. But my dad died 1 year after his brother was put in prison and they escorted him 350 miles back to be here for his funeral and then took him back about 30 minutes after the service. Yes, I think he had the right. I don't think they have the right to take your family away from you, unless you have physically harmed them in some way and that is what put you in prison. My dad adored his little brother and it meant alot to me for him to be able too see him one last time. I hope this is what you wanted to know.

Hey,Honey,I was born & raised & retired from the area of the womens' reformatory at Marysville!
I now write to & support & visit a girl in Alderson Federal Prison Camp, where "The Martha" was. I would trust her farther than most people that aren't in prison!

HI,,,, i guess it is about some one other than you.... If it is an immediate member of the family ,,, you can put in a petition to the warden or superintedent of the prison.. they make the determination of when or if a prisoner can or not go to a funeral...

good luck

In most prisons you can only attend funerals for immediate family only. This usually includes spouses, children, parents, and siblings.

ok...not sure what the question is here...im thinking you meant...should inmates have rights to family death...and i feel that if it's immediate...then yes.....hopefully that you are asking that question ..if not you might want to rephrase it

inmates should only have basic rights, all other rights were given up when they committed the crime.
