What happens to nature black hair when dyed purple?

If you do it without pre-bleaching they'll still be black, but it will pick up a purplish glare to it. I think that will look cool.

If you use a dye with ammonia or other kind of pre-bleaching chemicals it will be dark purple.

If you do some serious pre-bleaching you can get them to be any shade of purple you want.

Usually the black will still be there because black can pretty much only be lifted out with bleach. If you put a purple on it, it should take and show up a purple hue in sun light or fluorecent lights. Like blue black hair dyes

it only looks purple against the light. i dyed it blue, and after a while the color started to fade. now my hair is brown, and my roots are black, but you can't really tell the difference.
i suggest you bleach it first so the purple will show up more, and use shampoo especially designed for redheads (since there isn't one for purple haired ones) to help your color last longer.

you know i have black hair. and when i tried to dye it violet-purple, it turned out reddish and i hated it. so maybe you should ask the hairdresser for advice before doing anything

becomes purple. those dyes are really good at masking the natural colors of hair. otherwise, they will defeat the purpose of dyeing.
