Thailand is a huge country, with 76 provinces. Popular places like Bangkok, Phuket and Pattaya are definitely filled with 'farangs'. There are so many unseen places of attractions, albeit less popular. I recently travelled to Phisanulok, toured Sukhothai from there and on another trip, Kanchanaburi. Interesting places, with not too much 'farangs'.

All the tourists travel North or West& South from Bangkok - travel East towards Elephant Island or even further.
I went to Thailand without the Lonely Planet Guide, so found my own way about - no farangs most of the time - they all just follow the guide and all go to the same places, that's why it seemed "overrun" to you.

Sure - Its only the tourist places who is overrunned with farangs.
You can still find places where they have never seen farangs. excl. in the Hilltribe border areas between south-Myanmar and Thailand. Also remember that in many isolated area - they dont like farangs at all.

Patong isn't the superb place to work out the real Thailand, Ranong is a sturdy decision as pronounced, if I had to compliment one place for a tourist i could advise the city of Songkhla very Thai purely Farangs are oil and gasoline workers. I did 20,000 ok on a Honda Wave in a 4 month era, and have documented dwelling in Thailand on a funds "day after day for a month"

farangs are all over thailand. you can see em in every nook in thailand. i dont know much bout places in with no farangs in thailand, but if talking about bangkok i think meenburi is nice enough to get away. oh hey, chacherngsao is a good place too... it's a suburb near bangkok only 1 hour.

There definitely are many places that are still unaffected by the tourist trade. You just need to know where to go and what you can do. Example will be any place outside Bangkok, Chiangmai, Phuket, Pattaya, Hatyai and you will be alright. I do know of some places that might be good to go. Contact me if you like to have more info on this. I can discuss this with you. Otherwise, you might find too many farangs there when you go. :)

married a Thai 22 years ago , still married and loving it go South to the Island of Koh Taratou hope the spelling is correct ,used to be a political prison during the Japanese occupation, or go to Bang Len area, Nakhon Pathom not far from Bangkok and about as rural as you can get i had a small shrimp farm there, before i came back to work in the world and i loved it.

Just about any place in Northern Thialand . The rural areas . It is also where all the REALLY nice people are . Though for me I love diving and Phuckett is the best place for that . Or I should say the islands out in that area .

Hua Hin is quiet, peaceful and has everything you need or want. Only 2-3 hours south of Bangkok. Beautiful beaches too.
