A few days ago i went to a salon to get my naturally dark brown hair dyed light brown.
The woman who did my hair went phsyco and dyed it ginger.
I want to buy an over the counter hair dye to dye my hair back to it's natural colour (dark brown) How long should i wait before I do this? Is a week long enough? Will my hair turn back to dark brown or will i end up with darkish red?

If you apply a non-peroxide rinse, you will be able to cover the ginger, at least partially, and it shouldn't harm your hair.

You should go back to the salon and if you don't trust them to put the problem right demand a refund. It is not too early to buy over the counter colour. But do a test strand or even a couple from different parts of the head. As you have dark hair this is much easier to put right than if you ahd blonde hair. It will ok I am sure.

Dont get a permanent colour it will dry your hair out and go a lot darker. Go for a semi and dont go for dark brown, it will be too dark possibly black.
Try a mid warm brown and it will look more natural, it shouldnt go dark red but will have tones in it to look warm & more natural.
Do it as soon as you want it doesnt matter about waiting a week.
Ive been in your shoes many a time!
Use plenty of conditioner afterwards.
Good luck love.

Dark brown hair doesn't dye to light brown well at all, it always goes ginger! It has happened to me lots of times. You can put a dark dye back over it and it should be OK, it may look reddish in the sun. In future it is better with dark hair to have some lighter highlights put in your hair to make it look lighter

sorry things didnt work out as planned!

go back to the salon and complain LOUDLY. this dye job is not what you wanted and you need to speak to the owner/manager. ask them to rectify it (they should do this free of charge as its their mistake). failing that, if you dont trust them (and why the hell should you?) demand a full refund and go to a reputable hair salon for damage limitation. you could cover the dye job with an over the counter product, its probably worth doing a test on a few strands of hair you've snipped off first to see if the colour is what you want. be aware many products like this give a flat colour, natural hair has many different hues in it, this is hard to replicate in dye. my best advice is not to dye your hair yourself, a salon will know how to cover your existing colour and minimise damage to your hair. i hope this helps, best of luck!!!

1st yes you can get your hair back dark brown you have to take into consideration the color you have now , it DOES make a difference 2nd a week is fine to wait just make sure you condition your hair very well after the second chemical if your un sure about the colors go back to the salon or a different one and get help from a color specialist

You shouldve spoke up in the salon. I do know a few "psycho" stylists who listen but then do their own thing but ultimately its the clients decision. You dont have to pay for it if its wrong, you can ask for it to be fixed or if youre crunched with time, schedule a re-do. Stylist get a lot of hassle because clients are too afraid to speak up. If they think it looks good, why would they re-do it on their own? Try going back to the salon and speak with the manager, explain your situation. You were too afraid to speak up, didnt want to hurt the stylists feelings...etc. Usually they will just fix it for you, no cost. Salons dont want bad press, an unhappy customer can make for several unhappy customers because most of the business is through word of mouth.

I would go back to salon and let them know you are not happy and get them to put a dark brown dia-colour through your hair they have to do this, if they don`t threaten them with trading standards. If you attempt to do it yourself you are at risk of wrecking the condition of your own hair plus it may go wrong i would honestly go back to the salon! hope this helps you! good luck

Call the salon back and talk to the owner/manager. Let her know you're dissatisfied with the dye job and why. Any reputable salon will redo it for free with products that will be as gentle as possible.

If it is not what you wanted, you need to go back to the salon and have it fixed. They have to fix it for you at no cost. Just explain to the manager that you don't like it and they will gladly fix it for you. You can re-color at any time. I highly suggest not buying a store brand color to fix it, you just might end up doing more damage!

i suggest as a woman who dies her hair all the time u wait for 2 weeks. then buy permanent die (3) it doesn't so much depend on your hair colour now, it will give your hair whatever colour is on the box cover. meanwhile maybe u will like your new ginger hair colour? maybe u don't like it, but at least it is smth new. cheer up. nothing can spoil a beauty
