Rapture... the end of the world...

According to this doctrine, when Christ returns, all of the elect who have died will be raised and transformed into a glorious state, along with the living elect, and then be caught up to be with Christ. The key text referring to the rapture is 1 Thessalonians 4:16–17, which states, "For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the archangel’s call, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first; then we who are alive, who are left, shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air; and so we shall always be with the Lord."

Virtually all Christians hold that the Second Coming will be preceded by a time of great trouble and persecution of God’s people (2 Thess. 2:1–4). This period is often called the tribulation. Until the nineteenth century, all Christians agreed that the rapture—though it was not called that at the time—would occur immediately before the Second Coming, at the close of the period of persecution. This position is today called the "post-tribulational" view because it says the rapture will come after the tribulation.

MY opinion:

People have been proclaiming that they are living through the "end times" for waaaaay too long. There's always some unhygenic street-corner evangelist crackpot sputtering about how the world is going to end and that all the heathens better get the Lord harrassed into their unsaved souls.

It STILL hasn't happened. The sky isn't falling. The oceans aren't boiling. Pigs are most definitely NOT sprouting wings and making like the birdies. They've been barking about it for years and years and years and they'll STILL be barking for years to come.

It's a scare tactic, a convenient freak- the- everliving- crap- out- of- folks magic wand that can be waved about in dramatic fashion any time the religious collective feels the soul harvest is running dry.

Trust me... go about your life. Ok, I'm sure you will anyhow considering there's really no alternative option (besides suicide, and I've heard God frowns upon that), but just make sure to keep in mind: STAY CALM. DON'T PANIC. REMEMBER YOUR TOWEL.

Yes I believe the rapture will happen in my lifetime and I believe it is very close to happening. we are on the verge of the last world war before the rapture. When you see the 7 year peace treaty being signed by the arabs and the muslims along with Israel look up because it will happen at any time. and I can't wait. As far as the atheists goes they will find out in due time that there is a God. Most of them believe in the devil don't they? I feel sorry that they don't know the Lord as the real thing. I don't know why they would not believe. We did not arrive on the earth with a big bang as the atheists like to think.

Gothmommy,
I guess that there are certain signs that come to mind. It would be a good time to get saved if you were going to wait to the last minute. I just hope you can develop real faith by September 23 if it happens this year. How are you going to do that? God can make it happen.

Here are a few details:
The nations that hate Israel, for right or wrong reasons, God's promises are God's promises. He won't let them fall to the ground. He's always been like that.

Those nations are becoming more and more powerful. As we keep paying higher and higher gas prices, they are building their war machines. Terrorism I'm afraid is just the faucet leaking for the pressure that is building in the system. Their sympathizers are all over these boards for instance.

The thing that the Islamic Nations are not counting on is a particular leader. That will delay things. But I don't see the attack on Israel delaying for much longer unless that Anti-Christ ( the world will believe him to be a saint, a man of peace) comes. The AntiChrist will come out of one of those Arab or Persian countries.

As I said on a recent post, the world is changing, they ae saying that it is Global Warming, Ozone Hole, to that I say, whatever. The Earth is supposed to change, it never stayed to same, what we are seeing is the Earth getting ready to quake like the Bible said that it would. There are other writings that agree.

The word of God has been spread across the Earth. That was supposed to happen too. That part is done, or right next door to it.

I could go longer, but I just want to end here. All the players seem to be set. Even the "Kings of the East" seem ready to go. And all that is included in prophecy.

Don't forget to get saved. Today if you hear His voice, harden not your heart. If you are Goth, be a Goth. Just be a saved Goth.

Jesus saves.

i am christian and do not believe in the rapture.. it is not biblical and the movement began in England around 1812 but didnt take off until around 1827 when John Nelson Darby claimed there would be a pre tribulation rapture of the church--prior to him Manuel Lacunza and Edward Irving had also made such claims ..but i believe later rejected them.. you can punch in John Nelson Darby and get all the info you need on the subject

I believe the rapture will take place within the normal life expectancy, but since you cannot know when your days are done, I cannot say if I will see tomorrow.
I believe in pre trib. rapture, so it could be at any time since all things are in order for the tribulation to begin.

I dunno, the rapture will come, don't know when. There was a period of silence in Heaven for 400 years before John the baptist hit the scene and shortly thereafter Jesus came and the world rolled over. I think maybe were in a period of silence before the sky rolls up like a scroll, could happen ten thousand years from now though.

The signs from matthew 24 or 25 are all there.
So it is definitley possible.
No one knows the time nor the hour, not even Jesus, Only the Father knows.
He is waiting so that people have time to get saved. He may wait quite a while, or it could be on my drive home. That would be cool

Sorry, a recent discovery has led this event to be cancelled for everyone. This event will not occur for me (or anyone for that matter) as the bible is a collection of fairy stories.

The discovery is that the bible is false and prayer doesn't work - prove it to yourself right now http://whydoesgodhateamputees.com
