I had to laugh a little at your trepidation towards the students coming ... they may well be a couple of shy things ... I do agree with the couple that said do icebreakers and warmers ... 'Snowballing' is a great one that helps introduce them to the group without the stress of getting up in front of a meeting ... its physical and a lot of fun... add food somewhere during the evening and keep it all casual ... and the teens will probably come back ...

Ok here is a great analogy about being good on the inside.
Teach a lesson about how the Lord looks at the heart. Really convince them that just because people can act good, or look good on the outside that is not what the Lord sees. Then bring in the plate of candy apples. Let them all pick. *Little do they know but you took an onion that was close in size to the apples and dipped it in the caramel too* When everyone takes a bite the story will become reality. Make sure you have an extra apple for the person that got the onion.

Since you asked another question about carbon dating being accurate perhaps you guys could listen to this show that talks about dating methods and Creation versus evolution and talk about it afterwards. It's only about 20 minutes and the speaker is upbeat and knowledgeable and it's a worthy area of discussion for young Christians who have to face the stigma of intellectual criticism from their teachers and peers when it comes to having faith in the accuracy of the Biblical account of creation.

Don't feel intimidated, they are probably more uncomfortable than you, be yourself, don't put up walls, some ice breakers to get to know them, like a truth or dare, but instead of kisses etc. have scary or disgusting (eat a happy meal from the blender) dares.

Take a game or two from "who's line is it anyway" teens love that...'props is a good one. There's lot of improv books with ideas..

It's an ice breaker and get teens to talk. It's all fun and you can learn their personalities pretty quick.

like a mustardseed,
You could always do the Mentos in the Diet Coke thing. If you cap it and shake it, you can make those two liters fly.

But just so no one gets hurt, leave the cap off and watch it geyser.

if you find them so hard to "manage" maybe you should have taken another job... you make it sound like your having a bunch of wild animals come to church and you have no idea how to tame them or something...maybe you should teach the elderly or something, they generally dont cause too much trouble, except in the movie cocoon

Teach them about the violence committed in the name of God. Teenagers love violence.
