No, I'm from a different generation, the 1970's - 1980's which means that when a super fight came around it was World News now its just another fight. I guess times have changed and boxing has kept with the pace, they are not competing with other forms of entertainment and consequently they are struggling.

As for American Heavyweights, that question was asked to Ali in the late or mid eighties and he wanted a more cosmopolitan boxing world. It has happened and might return to the days where it was truly international and fighters fighting a higher standard of fights on a regular basis. It has to do with money and the Russians are fighting because they know that's where the money is.

Boxing is in the decline. Very few youth these days say that they want to grow up to be the heavyweight champion of the world. Instead football, baseball and basketball is where kids put their hopes into. The physical wear and tear that has affected many of the old boxers doesnt go unnoticed, either. Corruption and politics are also deterring factors when it comes to boxing. It is probably the easiest professional sport to "fix" outcomes. Imagine all of the NFL players that would make great heavyweight boxers. The financial incentive isnt there in boxing, as it is in other sports.

The best boxer out there these days, has to be Floyd Mayweather, he's got mad skillz!!

American heavyweights are going into other sports. Boxing is not in a decline. However, the boxing world better realise they have serious competition from MMA.
The Mixed Martial Artists are serious fighters, and in that sport, there are fewer weight divisions, and only one champion in each division.

I think it's a little bit of both. There are not many exciting boxers who get fans excited anymore. The heavyweight division has been in decline for over a decade. Lewis, Holyfield, Tyson all gone.... I was hoping Klitschko would make it exciting again, but with his injuries it doesn't look too promising.

A bit of both, one great ray of hope will come soon. I do not know who, but boxing somehow breeds legends, and the heavyweight divison is due one.
