Well... I have a question, that has been bothering me for a while. I got on the steroid Prednisone, back in April and got off in June. The steroids made me gain weight un controllably. And I gained 32 lbs, and have lost about 5 since being off of them. I can't help but notice, that now that I gained this weight, I am looking at every nutrition fact, counting my calories, and watching what I eat. Everyone around me is noticing, and they keep nagging on me, telling me I am turning Anorexic. Like I try not to consume more than 1,000 calories a day, to try and lose the weight I put on from the steroids. Is this normal? I dont think I am getting an eating disorder? But am I?

instead of watching your calories, u should elevate your metabolism by eating not by starving... and eat fruit between meals. when i mean meals, its not to eat alot, just smaller portions of what u usually eat and between meals is around 8, 10, and 3pm... also, try not to eat dinner after 7pm.

its hard at first, but you´ll get the hang of it

I would not worry what other people say. Ussually it takes 3500 cal To loose one pound. I think your trying to hard by doing only 1000 cal a day. Try to eat about 200-300 extra cal a day, and exercise, that should also boost your metabolism. It's kind of hard to get all the nutrition that way At least take a Multivitamin and Calcium Supplement. Steroids can be a little hard on the bones. good luck.

No, absolutely not. You're trying to lose your 32 extra pounds in a healthy way...counting calories, checking nutrition, being careful about what you eat. If you're eating 1000 calories, you're fine.

I'm wondering if these people who nag you are overweight. I've found that when dieting, my chubby friends tried their best to sabotage my efforts...you know, "oh, one brownie won't hurt you!", etc. Watching a friend lose weight is hard for some people who can't seem to stick to a diet...or more healthy eating habits.

Anorexia involves overeating and deliberate vomiting and well,. much more extreme behavior.

Good luck to you!

depending on your current size and wieght, about 1200-1500 is a good starting pt for how many calories your consuming. I dont think your going anorexic, as long as you dont take a turn and start eating like half a peice of toast for breakfast, skip lunch and then have a salad for dinner. that would be bad

I suggest you stop taking steroid Prednisone any more and go to see the doctor. Your weight is possible to be decreased into your normal weight with the right diagnosis.

I bet that now that your not taking the steroids anymore, the weight will come off by itself. Your body was thinking it needed to do something when you took them, and now that the stimuli is gone, it will let it go. Just try to eat really healthy(small meals, lots of fruits and veges, no late nite eating and stay off the donuts)and I bet it comes right off. Try not to worry....and no puking!!!

It's good that you are questioning yourself. Just try to get back down to your usual weight and don't bother too much with a diet after that unless you have to.

You needs to try to eat at least 1500cal (depending on your current weight) if you eat a drastic amount less then it can actually cause you to take longer to loose weight.
