My experience in the workplace is I don't speak another language other than English, therefore I feel I should not have to listen to any foriegn language in any american place of employment while I'm working. Companys speak of things like, work as a team, work safe, etc. How can you do this when part of the " team" don't want you to know what their saying? I'm so sick of this sh-t, being force fed to accept this in our great nation. It's like at times you, the americans, are being closed out, by people who came here for better lives, but ignorant to our ways. A lot of times as a "team" we must discuss problems in the work place we all learn from, if you don't speak English, so everyone can understand, the whole prosess ends right there. Save your native language for breaks, or home, not in the workplace.

English in the workplace rules should be in effect when the work in being performed, however the foriegn speakers should allowed to speak in their natives language doing their breaks, lunch, etc. This is America still! The melting pot of the world.

Um..... people are served in English.
Every single service industry works in English.
I don't know what the hell you're smoking.

Why don't you just rephrase your question into a statement :
"Everyone should be forced to speak English at all times... now, agree with me"

I mean, that's really what you want... isn't it? I've never come up to a cashier of any sort and been serviced in SPANISH. Sure, I've been served in really wetbacky English, but at least it's a try.

I mean, it sounds like you got a problem with anyone who speaks English with any kind of Hispanic accent. Did you know that accent neutralization is the most difficult part of emulating a language? Seriously, the only countries that do it for the English language are the Indians (dot, not feather :D ) and we STILL make fun of them. You try going to another country, learning their language, losing your original accent, and gaining one of theirs. It'll never happen.

If you want people to speak English with a neutralized accent, and an added midwestern accent in its place (as midwestern accents account for almost all of the "correctly pronounced" words in the American-English language) then why don't we start with the entire north-eastern, south-eastern, southern, and southwestern part of the United States? Hell... add Chicago in there, too... I hate their accents.

All we'd have to do is pay higher taxes to build accent-neutralization centers, complete with Harvard-trained staff, and full frontal lobotomies for the people that think that this is actually a good idea.

All right, I'm done being sarcastic. Carry on with your racism.

Tough luck pal.
"America" is the land of the free. You have the right to speak what you want to speak. Ammendmant "Freedom of speech."
If you were to take that right away, then, maybe then, can you force people to not speak their own language, and have to speak English. Personally, I feel that I am forced to speak English, cause many people, unfortunately do not speak Persian. Besides, English is a boring language, it's not even that pretty of a language, why in the heck would we have to speak English?
Besides, if they make that a rule, to only speak English and not your own language, then I am moving out of the US.

At least try and learn English. I mean if I go to McDonalds and ask for a Big Mac, at least know enough English to repeat Big Mac back to me.

I mean it is bad enough that our schools have to cut down on art, music, and other extra act. so we can hire ESL teachers. I think if you want a free education, paid for by Americans, you should have the decency to learn English.
