I love Adelaide! My husband and I are planning to emmigrate to Adelaide in the next year or so. We visited 4 years ago during Easter and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Great pubs, beautiful botanic garden and enchanting people.
Our favorite part is the Wine Institue. I developed my palate there. The cost of living is reasonable, and there does not seem to be a racism problem there.
You must have been talking with ignorant people. People are afraid of what they don't understand.
Be proud of your home town.

I wouldn't worry about it luv, I live in Western Australia so we get the same sort of treatment, but we're so far away and our weather's so nice that we just don't give a rat's... :)
We all have certain prejudice's towards different states mostly born from rivalry. I love Melbourne personally, but the first chance I get I'll tease anyone who says they're from Victoria, not out of any dislike for the state but because that's just what's done. I don't take offence when someone says I'm a bit backward because I live in WA and they don't take offence when I call them bloody Victorians (my Dad's a Victorian too, so dinners are interesting ;P). My best advice is to let it roll off your back or say a few things back about their state, that's probably what they're after anyway.

I dont think everyone hates Adelaide, its known as a nice place. However your drivers can be very incosiderate sometimes, Melbourne & Perth drivers are much more courteous - ie they will let you change lanes if you indicate.
Remember, 20 years ago everyone took the piss out of Melbourne, its just Adelaides turn for a while. Chill!

This is news to me. I have never heard anything bad about Adelaide - quite the opposite. Queenslanders are far too preoccupied with hating New South Wales to have any attention left for South Australia.
I thought we all teased Tasmanians anyway.

I haven't heard of this. I live in rural Victoria and most people prefer Adelaide to Melbourne because it is so much friendly and cleaner. If those people think Adelaide is a hole then they should come to my town.

i come from Sydney and i have never heard about hating Adelaide. most people like it for the great bands that come out of that state. i guess people just assume that because its a smaller state that nothing happens there...
