If time allowed all religions will reach something similar to Hinduism today. Hinduism is over 5000 years old.

The difference what we see among religions today is only because of the difference of age.

For example:
Hinduism 5000 years
Christianity 2000 years
and Islam only 1500 years

If you are at least 50 years old you can just assess the difference each of them where when you were a child. Just think what it can be 1000 years then.

Removing all dirt and filth if you can be a Hindu, you will accept all religions same as your own. Similarly the Christians and Muslims. The problem is they are travelling through different paths from difference points of origin.

Now there arise a question, "Is God failing in His attempt?"
My answer is:
No, He will get the Diamond out of us.

It was a hodge-podge of religion.

First there were the mystic religions that worshiped the moon, stars, and beleived in spirits, demons, and things of the sort. They practiced magic and all sorts of other things.

Second, there was Judaism. Judaism had spread south along the red sea, and there were synagogues in many of the towns in Arabia. We know that Jews were present there because Muhammed wrote about them in the Koran.

Third, by the time Islam took off, Christianity had already spread down much of the Arabian peninsula. Their is debate on whether it was orthodox Christianity, but it was one sect or another.

And last, there were syncretistic religions that blended all the formentioned faiths as they saw fit.
