Oh girl !! I am a geneolgy expert !! First of all, county records office is a good start, but you can google anything. Start there -- chances are someone in your family has already worked on a family tree and this is a good way to start. Post of any message boards asking for information.

Cyndi's List is great - no cost, Historical Societies, Rootsweb, Ancestry.com is a better tool -- is not that expensive, I think 150 ? a year ? and you have access to birth records, military records, census, etc.

The best tool is the census -- start with the most recent and then go back every ten years and its really easy to track that way.

And if you ever get the chance -- go to the Morman library in Salt Lake City -- they have everything !!!!Good Luck -- its addicting !!
