Well I am 42 and recently divorced (1 year) and after being with the same man for 18 years -- the dating scene is a definite eye opener. The online thing is fun -- but you have to be completely honest and just lay yourself out there and hope that the other person is being honest too....
Other than that -- let you friends know that you are looking and available -- just about everyone has a friend who is single and are willing to set you up.
We recently, threw a party and the only requirement was to bring a single friend -- of the opposite sex --- I made little name tags that said "Taken" and "Available" and we even personalized them as the night went on -- and it turned out to be really fun and a few hookups even....Try something different !

Public libraries, social meets in the free metro news guides that do not charge you a fee to come "join" but may charge you each time you come, hotornot.com is a good one, or something like libraries that you may think of where normal slowed down old people frequent.
You may also call your local chamber of commerces in each area you want to go to, and maybe they can give you a list of the "happenings" around town.

You call yourself a fat-chick. That is going to make it harder.
How about working out.
Maybe you can make healthy progress and meet some guys that aren't creeps that hang out at bars.
We all work out on our bodies so, watever shape your in, you'll have company! Best wishes!!

you're not too old for bars! if you don't feel like going out on bars, go to the beach.. or you can jog at the park.. or do any outdoor activities. there are a lot of people around that you can meet. as what me and my friends say (we're singles), ''talk to strangers''......... =)

Ask a friend to set you up with someone, but set out your interests and standards so they're not just throwing anyone at you. Good luck.
