How can one tell a blind person about colors? What can we do or say to convince a blind person that color is real? Hence, whether a blind person choose to believe in a colored world or not, color among us is real as the air we take in--precisely is that faith? whether i have faith in god or not does not matter b/c it is beyond my comprehence. And God or things of such nature will continue to exist after i'm long gone. Thus, faith, either one have it or not. Am i safe for saying so? If so, the present of faith is not to see it, rather to feel it. Thefore, one cannot teach another how to have faith, but can oly wish (pray) for one to aquire through miracles. Many beleivers can only qoute what they have read without examples of what they have done (by this i mean reading without comprehend is useless). Don't just qoute from the bible give me example of what you have done, show your faith. Give me truth beyond recital from what you have read. Give me undertsanding b/c I am blind.

shauna give a very good answer, i have no issues with faith. I have faith. Just as i did before i ask the question i know that there will be people that will share their stories with passion. Although those who are trying to convince other by words to have faith it is better to show them by examples. Live your life as an example, don't try to say the bible said this the bible said that, it is not one's job to do so, b/c we are all sinner---btw i am a buddish, i do believe that we are not perfect.

Thx Batty you answer well, you draw conclucion with refer to the bible. It show your conviction has logic and clear minded on your choice.

To answer the question you ask me "how do we know what we see are the same "blue"? If you and I were to given a selection of two colors red and blue and that we need to choose the color that resemble the sky which we call blue. Visually these two color are very different nad you and I chhoses the same color, we are convicted of having the same view. The question i ask was not so much about what we all see. Instead is about faith, faith can only feel not see. one can only feel not see faith, do you agree? Osmone also mentioned this is an unrealistic question, i must admit its hard to explain, even i have trouble with the whol ething. However, that is what disucsion are for, hopefully we will all come out with better understanding.

I know you don't want any quote from the bible but did you know it says if we have the faith of mustard seed we can move a mountain? If you have ever seen a mustard seed then you will know just how tiny it is. The funny thing is thats all the faith we need and yet it is so hard to keep. I myself have been goin thru some tough times lately. Everyone keeps telling me to keep faith. I know this easier said than done. I have asked myself plenty of times how do I keep faith or how do I know what it even is?

I have came to conclusion that faith is believing not only in the lord but also in yourself. Other people have shown me faith by acheiving their dream and not giving up when times got tough. And I have to say I haven't given up and I don't plan to either. When I get down and I'm feeling like I am loosing I pray and I believe my prayers are goin to be answered. And you know things are actually picking up in my life for the better! Therefore I would say just believe and have cofidence in yourself and others that is showing faith.

I am having a little trouble following what exactly your question is, so let me ask you this: Is the color that I call blue and the color that you call blue perceived the same by both of us? Have you ever wondered if the 'blue' that you see might actually look orange to me, even though I have assigned the name 'blue' to the color that I see?

If this is the case (and we cannot truly say that it isn't), then we are all blind in some sense. We are all operating under the belief / faith that what we see is the same for all of us. It seldom is. Our individual perceptions, memories, ideas, ideals, dreams and goals are as individual as we all are.

As for faith itself, each morning as I drive to work I am a living example of faith in action. I believe that my car will run, that the tires won't blow out, the other drivers won't blow a tire, that they have had enough sleep, aren't currently disciplining a child in the back seat, that the hillside is secure and won't crumble as I drive beneath it, etc...

So, yes, I have have a belief in God. And I believe because I choose to believe it. I make this choice based on things I was taught, experiences I have had, studies that I have done and the belief of the people around me. And because it feels good to believe. There is some sense of security in it for me.

I hope I came close to addressing your question.

UPDATE: In reply to your additional information...
How do you know that the blue of the sky is the same for both of us? If you could see it through my eyes you might swear that the sky was pink. Whatever color I am seeing when I look at the sky is what I call 'blue'. That doesn't mean that it looks the same to me as it does to you. We are operating on faith when we make assumptions like the color blue is the same for everyone. Our perceptions are feeling and not something physical. They qualify for inclusion in an answer about faith.

What you are asking is not really very realistic because faith is of the unseen or unheard ! That's why it is so difficult to comprehend or put an answer to it . You make choices every day, every minute really to do or think certain things and choosing to trust and believe God is a choice I have commit ed to because I have not just listened to a preacher tell me to but I actually have myself gotten into the word, yes I mean the bible . You cannot just ask someone such a question without examining it yourself. I also pray daily and have a constant ongoing personal relationship w/ Christ . This brings me closer to God because I can feel his presence and I know without the belief that I am going to live forever this life would not be worth living ! I know these may just be words you have heard before, but you have to ask God that question and he will show you.

Faith without works is dead and this is mentioned in James 2. I know you didn't want a Bible scripture, but I just thought I'd mention it. God knows your faith and the intentions of your heart whether you have faith or not. You cannot have faith just by saying you have it, as this is mentioned in the chapter above. My faith I haven't been showing by my works and this troubles me. I do listen to the Lord and try to be as obedient as I can. So, my faith is just listening to Him even when he tells me to walk out to the end of my driveway, to me not knowing why, and kneeling to pray when He tells me when I don't know who or what for. A lot of times, toward the beginning of me going to church this year, He would tell me to be still. I didn't know what this meant, but after each I would feel more joyious. My faith in Him is knowing no matter how messed up life gets, whether it be in drugs or not having a job, I still know my life with Him is better than having a life without. He'll always be there at my worst, when I'm depressed by my heartache and loneliness. I trust that He will use me for His glory, even though I haven't served, but prayed for others. I've seen the outcome of my brother getting that job that he wanted and I prayed so much for that. I really didn't need to see that because my faith already resided just in knowing He exists. That is the first step of faith, you have to know he exists. I hope this helps you somewhat and God bless.

I won't give you my story of my faith. You need God's faith, not mine. God's Word is TRUTH. Peoples stories are not God's TRUTH.

If you can't handle TRUTH..Then you have a bigger problem than you think, my friend.

Philippians 4:13 --- I can do all things through Christ who strengthens
me.
The road to success is not straight. There is a curve called Failure, a
loop called Confusion, speed bumps called Friends, red lights called
Enemies, caution lights called Family. You will have flats called Jobs.
But, if you have a spare called Determination, an engine called
Perseverance, insurance called Faith, a driver called Jesus, you will
make it to a place called Success.

Hebrews 11:17-19
People put their trust in different things. Some place faith in the Lord; others trust in themselves or another person. Faith can even be placed in relationships, money, or politics. Anytime we put absolute trust in something, we demonstrate faith. So, the question isn't, Do I have any faith? but rather, In what have I placed my faith? Looking at that question honestly will shake up your assumptions about your spiritual life.
An old saying explains, "Faith gives feet to belief." Simply put, this means that faith is the active expression of what you believe about God. If you have the idea that He sits in some far-off place called "heaven" and only halfheartedly listens to your prayers, then that will reveal itself in your day-to-day walk of faith. Your God will seem small, powerless, and disinterested. The result will be a string of seemingly unanswered prayers and a general sense of defeat.
If, on the other hand, you believe that God is right beside you, whispering in your ear, pouring out His Holy Spirit upon you - and that He is intimately familiar and concerned with the minutiae of your life - then such a belief will impact your faith walk. Prayer will be a joyful exchange between cherished friends, and the evidence of our heavenly Father's miraculous power will become commonplace in your daily life.

Weak faith says, "God can." Great faith says, "God will." But perfect faith - godly faith - says, "It's done." Your faith is your testimony.

The Faith to Hold Out
Hebrews 12:1-3
Sometimes our life seems like a long, dark tunnel. Perhaps we are unable to discover a solution for a problem, or we cannot find relief from pain. Regardless of the direction we turn, we find no hope for anything better than our present circumstances.
Thankfully, we serve a God who feels our pain and knows our limitations first-hand.
Jesus Christ walked through the valley of the shadow of death and cried out, "My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?"(Mark 15:34). This means that when our faith is stretched to the breaking point, our strength is exhausted, and our dreams are broken like shattered glass, Jesus understands. And He asks us to hold out when everything in us screams to give up.
Giving up means abandoning God's help for our own puny strength. We try to manipulate a situation or simply avoid pain. In essence, we're choosing to believe that Satan in his worldly power is stronger than Christ within us - which is the exact opposite of what the Bible says is true. (1 John 4:4) Of course, the Devil is not more powerful, but we let him win a battle if we give up on the assurance that God will see us through difficulty. When we have that attitude, we miss the Father's blessing and limit our usefulness in His kingdom.

Even when we cannot detect His involvement, God is working every moment on our problem. But we must trust His perfect timing for revealing the answer. Your Father knows your hurt, and He will bring you through that dark tunnel. Do not give up before reaching His blessing.

I don't deal with faith because I simply do not have any. I am blind myself. People keep telling me to "have faith" and quote the Bible.

Yet most of the time, those so called religious people, who tell me to have faith are the same ones I see doing terrible things to others. How then, am I to believe that they have faith or that they walk with Jesus?

I choose to question. Question religion, religious people, the Bible, Jesus and God Himself...yes, why not? I don't have faith, I don't have to deal with it. I choose to continue to search for satisfying answers for my inquisitive mind.

Xenophanes, If Horses could draw they would draw Gods in the shape of a horse. Simple. A blind man cannot see with his eyes but a blind man can see with his hands.

Faith is all about believing and entrusting your instinct to do the job. Why even bother to do something miraculous when you don't even kno why you are doing it for?

Films,
"Faith how do we deal with it?"
You put your trust in "Thus saith the word of the Lord." No matter what the circumstance.

If youare sick, " I am the Lord that healeth you." "With His stripes we were healed." They are promises of God for us to claim. They are in the Bible for us to hang our body on.

So before I get out of bed, there is a promise from God that I want to grab on to, like;
(Psalms 84)
5 Blessed is the man whose strength is in thee; in whose heart are the ways of them.
6 Who passing through the valley of Baca make it a well; the rain also filleth the pools.
7 They go from strength to strength, every one of them in Zion appeareth before God.

I know that I will go through valleys of weeping, but I will get through valleys of weeping, and the Lord promised the the rain will cover the pools, and that I will go from faith to faith and they will become strengths that will become stronger in Him.

Testimony:
I have been attacked in my dreams occaisionally. The demons that did so would confront me, tried to intimidate me, confuse me. But what could I do against so many supernatural demons? I knew I was sleep and all I had to do was wake up, right? No. I could not even though I tried.

So to my knees in my dream I went to pray a prayer for God to deliver me. What if the demons attacked me while I was so prone to them? God will protect me I thought. What if they kill me in my sleep, God will protect me. From my lips I prayed and talked scripture, " Greater is He that is in us, than He that is in the world, forever oh Lord thy word is settled in heaven."

The demons were still there, I could hear them attempting to confuse me. There words were like scripture, but full of errors. If I misspoke, they could not get me. Though they tried, and they had to know that, having eons to develop and remember, so why were they doing it? Because they wanted me to lose confidence in the word. If I misspoke, they would use the opportunity to beguile me.

Not long after, they were cut off from me, as if an invisible wall struck the ground, and they weren't there any longer.

I was able to groan myself awake.

I wasn't less than I was before the dream. Though I felt weak, I was made stronger through the strength that God gave me to pray.
