For Chinese get yourself graph paper and box off the characters. You just need lined paper for English. Now, my trick was to find someone with handwriting i admired - this could be a greeting card or in a book (some historical people had great writing) And then its just a matter of practice. (Big hint - don't pick a girly writing - one with lots of loops or anything: you want writing that looks professional and adult) Also, practice drawing when you get bored - it's a similar skill. It's worth it - good handwriting impresses people later, it makes you look educated, and you need it for in-class exams! When finding a 'good' handwriting see why it's good - for instance it could be they add a loop after a letter or it's not too round - find out why one handwriting is better to read than another. Then adopt what that person is doing. I used the handwriting of Caroline Ingalls. Oh and since you went from left to right you may be forming some of your letters backwards - not writing them, but when you shape them making them backwards so that your motions don't match the letters you write and the end result is all your letters have a funny shape. Check out a 'Learn to write cursive" children's book (they have them at Staples) and see if you've 'reversed' some of your letter writing steps.

Aside from "practice" the tools you use to write with influence your handwriting.

I too have awful handwriting. I find that using fine tip pens help my writing. Ballpoint pens make my writing look like chicken scratch.

I would suggest trying different types of pens...it can really make a difference.

But, you should know your writing will never be another persons. You can't compare your style to another persons style.

Also, write out the alphabet and look at how your letters are formed. If they differ from those letters on charts for little kids you might want to change it. Use simple forms in writing. Like the letters I'm typing. Use this style. It's simple and plain. Forget the fancy writing and use what you learned in school.

haha i'm chinese too!
my mom used to tell me to copy books(novels, fictions etc.), some pages one day. and it turns out to be great! characters on the book is the best and the easiest to write.
English? maybe the same theory, or you can go to Microsoft Word to find out the font u like, then type the alphabets out, then practise it over and over, til u get used to it! ;)
