My dad took her to the vet, and they gave Marmalade an antibiotics shot, should this be enough, or should I take her back in another week? I'm like an over protective mother with my cats, especially now that they are all getting on in years, but my cats never "show" when they don't feel well.

the vet probably told your Dad if or when she should be brought back to the office. If not call and ask them.

She should be fine. Did the vet ask for her to come back? If they didn't you can always call back and tell them you want to schedule her in for a follow up visit. 9 years is not really that old for a cat. I mean 15-20 years is the average lifespan so she still has a lot of good years left to spend with you.

A strange black scab could be anything from ringworm to feline acne to a rodent ulcer. I would call the vet and ask why the shot was given and then request for him or her to give you the diagnosis. Where is the scab? If it is on the chin it could be acne; on the lip a rodent ulcer or if it is over the eye or around the whisker pad it could be ringworm. But ringworm is never treated with an antibotic. Unless the vet is really unqualified, I guess.
