more times than not it is competition for love, for attention...the ideology that there always has to be a #1 and a #2. Children , and adult children as well have a hard time understanding that love of children is unconditional and equal amongst siblings. At least in normal families. Unfortunately that is not always the way.

The fact that brothers and sisters are the closest people to one another, is a huge stress factor. They see things in relatively the same way and same time.

Here's an example: The parents of two children divorce. The only person who would relate to either child is the other child. S/He was there at the same time, feeling relatively the same things.

Siblings fight because they are constantly in each others lives.

Hope I was of any help...

Just being on this planet causes it. I've seen sibling rivalry in dogs, monkeys and people. We are all genetically wired to compete for resources.

Because your sisters/brothers and you have so many similarities. I have found that the things that annoy me about my sister are the things that annoy me about myself, and they are just amplified in her when I see her doing them because I know thats how i am. And brothers are just wierd and annoying anyway.
