Windows Media Player encountered an unknown error. This can occur when another program or operating system component encounters a problem but does not communicate the nature of the problem to the Player.

It is possible that you don't have the correct control for Windows Media Player to play your movie.

This MAY fix your problem. Download the DivX codec. It is free, and it is here: http://www.divx.com/divx/windows/ It fixed a lot of my video problems.

You probably don't have the codec required to play the movie. Most feature-length movies are encoded in XviD or DivX. Search Yahoo and download / install the codecs.

You can download codec packs which install a bunch of codecs and give you the ability to play just about any type of file.

My guess is you have a bad codec, codec's translate the movie into something watchable. Or the movie has some form of copy protection

don't download movies off lime wire...
they are mostly viruses...especially if the file is small...
you'll need to scan your machine for viruses...

if the file isn't a virus then its a codec problem...

but most likely its a virus...
