No! You are NOT fat! First of all, you are going through puberty, or about to hit it. Estrogen does crazy things to your body because it is getting your body ready to start reproducing (doesn't mean you need to start experimenting or anything!) You shouldn't be in any hurry to loose weight, but you need to be sure you make steps to where you don't gain any weight either, and that goes for any weight! You should eat less junk food, and try walking more! Take care of yourself..love who you are! NOT what the scale says!

Well a lot depends on your frame size and BMI (body mass index). I am only 5'3" and my target goal for my frame is 126-132 lbs. Also you are going to be going through a growth spurt very soon, and your hormones are changing. As a female it is not unusual to see extra body fat to accomodate these things, but you will generally outgrow it. Do not make the mistake of having extreme self images at your age. Just feel good about who you are and can become.

Don't worry. Your body mass index (BMI) is within the "normal" area. Go have fun with your friends and do not worry about your weight. If you are really worried (which you shouldn't be) try doing a little more physical activity. But there are so many other things you should be thinking about and worrying about this is just a waste of your time.

Dont care what people think, just treat your body good. eat healthy most of the time and exercise. And 144 is not bad.

5'6" and 144lbs is kind of chubby, BUT nothing to be alarmed about. You are a young tall female, so it is normal for your weight to be a little higher. If you are worried about being fat, exercise though. Exercise is good for all ages, weights, and mindsets. :)

i weigh less than you, but in the same situation, and my parents are always telling me that im fat. they aren't saying youre fat, but they say things like your new pants are too tight, or we should start doing alot of sit-ups and things like that. so i don't think youre "fat" but im sure we could all use some toning up, you know?

no you are not fat. But make sure you stay active, this will help you keep healthy. Don't focus so much on being fat or thin. focus on how healthy you look and feel.

Your height is also a major factor in your weight. If you truly want to know if you're overweight you can check the body mass index. Here's a link:
