I have noticed that the questions on Yahoo are often based on false premises, and that the punctuation, grammar and spelling are less than acceptable. In my opinion, it's time for America to reprioritize and spend some money giving our kids a decent education. What are your thoughts? Thanks for your answers.

Thanks, buttcheeks, but I don't think that is true. A public site statistically gets respondents of all intelligence levels.

I've got to agree. i understand that some things are just the new lingo, accepted abbreviations for the internet. but some are just atrocious spelling, and they have spell check!

I agree TO A POINT!
Here in MN -this state throws money at every problem-but never gets anything done.

The public school system is a joke-no accountability--and they
want more and more-to teach kids about how important their
feelings are!! The young people of today are not being trained for their futures. Heck-they rarely keep score while playing sports anymore!

One thing you must remember is that yahoo is an international medium. Some of the persons using this forum, for questions, may not may not be from the United States. English may not be their native language.

Now for your question. I believe that American teachers have gotten lazy. My children had an English Literature teacher in High School that thought nothing of showing the class a movie loosely based on a novel. This doesn't teach kids about literature, as most movies cannot show what is contained in a novel.

Too many people depending on computers to do their jobs and studying. I think that the teachers and schools should go back to making the kids write out the answers to their lessons and make them go to a library to find the answers to their problems, instead of just copying them from a computer screen.

I agree, although I'm only 15. However, I've seen posts by 30 year old moms...complete paragraphs with absolutely no punctuation. It's not just our generation, it's just that there's a lot of stupid people on this website.

I don't think yahoo answers was meant to be a spelling bee. But instead to just get correct answers for honest questions you don't know.
