I do think what the Bible says is the only truth. I think it is all right by the Bible. I am a Christian and believe the Bible is the absolute truth. I love God and Jesus. I also know that I am not perfect and I sin, but I know he will forgive me of my sins. I may not condone certain lifestyles, but that does not mean I don't love the person. I also may not believe in other religions, does that mean you hate the person for believing a different way? No, it means you learn about them and if you want their religion. Many Christians say one thing and do another. They think they are better than everyone, when the case is that they are just like every other person on this earth. We all sin, we all have to live with the choices we make. I can only be as good example of a Christian through how I am living my life at the time. I also do not think that my church or denomination is the one true way to get to Christ. There are many different denominations out there and the important things is they all worship God. I feel that only you can decide what you want to believe. Let, me give you an example, I adore the universe. The galaxies are so beautiful, almost breathtaking. I believe the universe could be 13.7 billion years old, but I also believe God could have made it in seven. I believe that we could have evolved. So for me, I have found a way to accept both my cherished God and science. You are the only one that can decide what is right for you. I do believe that everything is sound in my Bible; it is just the people that influence it that are fallible.

Denise,
I know that things are not quite right in the Christian Church or with so many Christians but the only real thing that we should hold on to is the written word, the Bible (Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth) and a personal relationship with Christ.
You have to realize Who really wrote the Scriptures. God really wrote them through divine inspiration of the Holy Spirit. Believe God and His Apostles and what has been written. The whole thing, and if there seems to be a disagreement within the Bible then seek the answers through prayer and investigation. I have found very few places that seem to be in contrast but I know are not.

I appreciate your dedication to understanding both sides of the situation. I am also new to yahoo, my first day actually. I am technically a christian, born and raised, but I prefer not to partition myself to one set of beliefs, I believe that there is one higher power, it has just been revealed to people in different ways. I think however that it might generalize a bit too much to say that all "non-believers" are open-minded and that all "believers" are child-hearted. Some "non-believers" are very close minded and refuse to admit that there might be something bigger than themselves out there, on the flip-side there are also many "believers" who cloak themselves with their faith and act anything other than "God-like" or child-hearted, refusing to question anything about thier belief system. I think that questioning is the very foundation of faith and when one blindly follows thier belief: whether that be the belief in nothing or the belief in an age old tradition, it is then and only then that we are lost. As long as there is still a question, on either side, then there is hope.

Christians are going to be made fun of, talked about criticized, you name it. I don't know where you come up with a "Child like Heart", at. Jesus Christ Himself ever said nothing about being a doormat for someone to bash. in fact, Paul told a Christian to STAND UP, defend the name of Jesus Christ. SOME of us can do that, SOME simply pick the "seek the favor of people", and be popular.
Jesus Christ said preach TRUTH, love will follow. Sometimes TRUTH hurts. It hurts for a reason. If a person has a problem with that, they have a problem with God. Not a Christian. As long as a Christian keeps they're "opinion" out of it, and sticks to scripture, HE CAN NOT LOSE.
There is a time to show scriptural "love" and a time to show TRUTH when people reject love. "LOVE" has 8 different meanings in Greek. Jesus Christ spoke of love 8 different ways. Too bad most people "think" "love" means 1 thing. God, himself, told Christians WHO to avoid and what to do with them. Some people are going to learn this the hard way, contrary to popular belief. God shunned these people for a reason. He does NOT want His people passing out snow cones and cotton candy to them for a reason. why? How can God bring a person to they're knees to Him, if a Christian is in the way of His actions? I'll say it again, People are going to answer for getting in the way. God, will move a Christian aside, when they can't follow instructions. The Bible warns Christians, churches, members, about helping people. Help is one thing. A person that has rubuked God is another. He even warns about helping other Christians, there may be a reason He has torment on this person. For a reason.
Hey...Great Question

I'm glad you are so open minded! I do hope, though, that you're getting fellowship somewhere...
But as for your question--there are so many Christians that spout off what they don't study and blatantly attack what they know nothing about. That's true for people in all groups, but Christians have the wonderful gift of absolute certainty, which makes them more vocal than anyone else.
I wish some of my fellow Christians would read more and talk less!!!

Not sure what you mean by writhing on wall?
but I'll take a crack at it!
That the non-believers and weak believers out number believers, that for real Christians were way out numbered. So a real Christian only gets started when out numbered!

well, non believers populate this site more than christians (or so it may seem). to us christians, it should be writing on the wall, writing that we can forget about and move on with our faith. they try to convince us there is no god. but honestly, all of us christians have heard it before. i don't see the need to keep on saying it when it's not going to change the strong belief we have. (sorry if i didn't answer your question right. i mean writing on the wall?? i just stated what i thought of it) blessed be, Val

I am a Christian but to a certain extent I am with you....I don't think any of the established religions have it completely right. The only guide I have is the Bible and the closest I have found is the Baptist but sadly the arrogance of some of my fellow Baptist make the rest of us look like total nut jobs.

Trust in Gods word that soon he is going to destroy all false religions and that includes those that call themselves Christians but are not doing the will of God.

What "things" are you referring to? You call churches polluted. Really? I attend a bible teaching church that is alive in their joy for Christ.
I believe that Jesus is right, the bible is God's word, and that is why I come to Yahoo Answers....no matter how insulting or snide a person gets in their questions, God's word never returns void, and that is what I always use in my responses.
I pray to God you can find your way to a church that will show you that you can trust Jesus, and God's word, as true, so that the rest of your life will not be spent sitting on a fence.
