What does it mean when you accidently call your boyfriend 'Dad'?

I was talking to my boyfriend the other night and I accidently said "Dad" instead of his name...what does that mean?

Luckily he didn't seem to notice....but I just wanted to see if anyone else had ever accidently said that.

Most likely just that you feel comfortable with him. Or you were tired, after all it was past your bed time.

There could be 6 possible reasons for what happened with you. But at the outset let me tell you its nothing to worry about. Its very natural. The 6 possible reasons:- (Note the last 6th reason)
1. A sheer slip-of-tongue error.
2. Maybe you were thinking about your dad at that moment something/anything like for examle "hey what do i tell dad as to where was i all this while?" or "dad would be worried for me its quite late in the night" or something similar.....and then suddenly you thought process switched over to the reality....u being with you boyfriend...and before you realised you happened to say something to your bf and the word "DAD" got blurted from your mouth.
3. Maybe you have a FIXATION for FATHERLY figures and hence the accidental slip of tongue/thoughts.
4. Maybe you see some traces or similarities in the way your dad interacts with you and the way your bf interacts too.
5. Maybe your boyfriend has that paternal instinct in him which got build up in your mind so much that the accidental slip occured.
6. We all human beings have a super brain and a super mind bestowed to us. Now in this brain/mind we have three ego states - child ego, adult ego & parent ego. All most or in fact all our thoughts, states of mind, actions & interactions are based on which state of ego our mind is into at that particular time. Maybe your ego state of the mind was CHILD EGO and hence the word DAD spilled out.
But not to worry its very natural!

You called your boyfriend dad and I am sure that you have called other people the wrong name by mistake. It just means you were thinking of your dad at the time or your boyfriend reminds you a lot of your dad like same features and such not in a bad way.

It could have just been an accident. Maybe you were thinking of your dad at the time. It doesn't really mean you wanna have sex with your dad or nothing like that! LOL. Maybe he reminds you of your dad?

It means you must have had a conversation with your dad earlier in the day and were still thinking about it. Freud would say you want to have sex with your dad, ie "id", but I'm not to hip on that theory. Unless you were talking to him during a passionate moment. YUCK! Otherwise, forget about it.

I've done this multiple times with my current boyfriend, it is bewildering and can be embarrassing. It happens in the most random, normal, day-to-day conversations.

I believe it means (for me) that I view my boyfriend as a 'figure of authority' in my life, I'm going to start working on viewing him as more of a peer.

Not a damn thing...it happens all the time, calling some one the wrong name. Or maybe the conversation made u feel like he was trying to control u...like a father. I wouldnt worry about it 2 much.

Ever been talking to someone on the phone and said "Love you" before hanging up just because you're used to saying it to someone close to you? Seriously, though, I wouldn't read into this much.
