I got bit by Red Ants about 2 days ago. I had severe pain and swelling on my foot. My big toe turned a little purple and hurt bad. Yesterday the pain was worse but it was also itchy. Today I am still sore and they are throbbing around my toe(is this normal) I am from NY and moved to Fl so I have no clue. I feel sick to my stomach since this happend I took benedryl yesterday and something for the pain but I dont know why they hurt so bad, I can usually take pain but this is throbbing. My toes are all red and hot and the ones on the top of my foot are swollen my big toe i can bend without it throbbing bad. Is there anything I can do , i tried soaking in epson salt, soaking them in the pool and anti-itch cream. Nothing seems to work!!

go to Wal-Mart and get some Sting Stopper, also get some Campo Phonique...( druggist will know what you are talking about.)
I would pop the pus blisters and soak foot in a bucket with warm salt water and hydrogen peroxide in it to promote healing.

I live in Texas and fire ants, as we call them, are dreadful especially if you're allergic to them. Benedryl is great for this thing, but I prefer direct topical creams or sprays. You said you tried it, but try keeping it in your purse. I know it sounds wierd, but as long as you have the problem spray it before you touch it. Maybe you'll end up doing it every fifteen minutes, but when you mess with it, that when infection and sores come.

Also a tip to keep creams on your feet so they don't get messy, lather it on good and thick and carefully put a sock over it stretching it not to touch the cream until it's all the way on.

P.S. Spray it quick and bite your lip.

I know your pain.

Your might be having an reaction to it... Go to the ER fast!

Last time a friend came down from Ohio she got bite & almost died from having an allergic reaction!

Trust me! I live in the part of the south where Fire Ants was introduced! Stupid merchant ships coming from south america to mobile with fruit not knowing they have fire ants!
