I don't think they commit more crime they just get caught more often and sentenced harder. Where I live no one can even remember the last time a minority committed a crime in the area (note that <2% of the population are minorities).

Well done David S you do your work very thouroughly and I have to say I checked all your statistics and you are correct. I'm not the least bit racist and everyone answering this question is assuming that its either a racist question OR that its hypothetical and incorrect to say this. David S showed us that it HAS NOTHING to do with poverty or LACK of education. Maybe it has to do with society itself. First of all I would say that perhaps the black population is still feeling vindictive towards whites, perhaps they feel like this is what we ACCUSE them of so why not just do it (and I'm not speaking of ALL black people )Im merely using the old "what if" theories. You know just because the black race has been "set free" doesn't mean they are truly free. If that makes sense. I live in a pretty equal town blacks and whites and I have seen on more than one occasion when both races go in for a job MAJORITY of the time the white person walks out with the job. Wheres the equality in that? Noone should be ashamed of who they are and noone should look at others as black or white. We are ALL men and women PERIOD!! Maybe if the world can actually come to this point and everyone get along "EQUALLY" we will all raise our standards for living. I have also heard so many people sat I'm not racist, well hell no they may not be racist BUT how many black families do they invite into their homes for Sunday Dinner? (good question isn't it?) It takes more than "saying" your not racist to NOT be racist!!!!

There isn't an answer on this page that relies on anything other than conjecture. The answer to the inquiry has undoubtedly been addressed at the academic level. Does anyone have access to an academic study that addresses the question with credibility and rigor of a valid study?

Black people and White people commit the same amount of crime. There are a lot of other factors involved. It usually has to do with the availability of police, how much money you have and things of that nature.

Example think of police in the urban areas and police in the suburbs. Police in the suburbs are more likely to be nicer, more polite and less stressed. Urban police are usually so busy, overworked and stressed that they are nasty and mean.

Think about it who would you have a better chance of getting over on?

Actually they don't commit more crimes, White people commit more general misdemeanors and violent crimes. Its just people like Jesse Jackson who publicize the wrong doing to the black community that make it seem that way.

As someone committed to a prison ministry, there are many reasons. One is that it is very difficult to rise out of poverty and lack of education in communities with so much violence growing up. It becomes a matter of survival. If we, as a nation, decided to make everyone important in our nation, these statistics could not hold up. Education, love and a healthy environment with role models are answers.......generation after generation, both black and white and any race or anyone needs an education afforded them in the richest nation on earth. We, as a society, have failed miserably in pulling people up out of poverty.

If that's true, there are a lot of poor single mothers in the black communities, so I would guess the main reason is poverty. White people with money can pay their way out of trouble.

No you aren't just wondering! You are making a racist statement and you know it!

Maybe it is because they are poor and they do what they have to do in order to live.

Maybe, in my experience of investigating child abuse, the rich and middle income were rarely reported, always the poor and single mother's! In 16 years I never investigated a black !

Wonder how many of the rich do coke or smoke a joint? I wonder how many get arrested? Coke is their drug of choice, that we do know!

Do you have proof of this? I do not believe that what you are asking is actually supported, therefore, I have a suggestion: Don't be a racist. There are plenty of white people who commit crimes. Crime is not categorized by races.

I have one question for you (it wont be too hard):
If black people commit more crimes then, why is the prison population majority white in our country?

Get an education and stop trying to stir up trouble. Become an asset to our country, not a liability. You can start by getting a job to stay busy!
