go get "extreme bleach out kit" i think it's by Revlon...but no-matter, you will find it with the other hair coloring products...i have blond hair now, but for winter i go warm to medium brown...then i get the "extreme bleach out kit" and do a thick white strand in front...my family likes to call it my skunk mark...anyways, it works..go get it.....good luck!

as a stylist i'm sorry that the salon hasn't worked for you, if the stylist isn't communicating that can be a problem. DO NOT leave bleach on your hair for an hour and 15 minutes, your hair runs a real good chance of falling out. i have seen this happen more than once. my suggestion since you are against salons would be to go to sally's beauty supply and use a professional type product. but you're gonna have to watch your hair carefully so you don't get a "chemical haircut", which is your hair falling out. and don't go to white white, it'll turn to mush and fall off- it'll look like cornsilk. when you buy the bleach ask about a toner, because depending on how dark brown your hair is, it'll pull orange. if you ask the person working at sally's they'll be able to help you. honestly i wouldn't leave the bleach on for much longer than 30 minutes. hope that helps.

i did the same exact thing. i had all dark brown hair and slowly i started bleaching it blonde. i started with like 10 highlights last june. ive been doing the same thing every two months since then and im still not all blonde. i dont go to a salon either. my mother does it. and i have really thin hair. its really bad for your hair if you do the whole thing blonde in one sitting..thats why im dying it gradually. im almost all blonde. i just need to do it like 2 more times and im there.
leave the bleach in for about an hour and 15 minutes.

I am a stylist, and i do understand that you are frustrated!!! the best way to lighten your hair is to apply the bleach, keep it seperated from the rest of your hair with foil. keep the product wet. since your hair is dark you may need to reapply. use a lower volume developer. this will reduce the damage to your hair, but will take longer(these are the sacrifices we must make!!!)
watch the color. since you are dark you are going to go through some realy nasty red, orange, and yellow stages. be patient!! depending on how dark your hair is and weather or not you have previous color on it, it can take any where from 20 minutes to 2 hours. good luck, and use a reconstructor on your hairs, such as Redken's Deep Fuel. this will repair your hair by replacing protiens in your hair making it stronger, and healthier.
GOOD LUCK!!!!

first off don't buy a walmart bleaching or highlight kit.....go yo a beauty supply store for that.......your hair is dark and the reg. store ones only have 20 vol. developer in them and it won't lift your dark hair to blonde......you need 30vol. developer and bleach.....if you use 20vol it will be orange,,,,make sure it's 30vol. so it can lift to your desired color.......not 40vol. that will dry your hair out like straw.....make sure you keep an eye on the coloring process and don't take it off to soon or it will be orange........i recomend 45 minute if your hair is dark brown and use a real good conditioner afterwards and you will look great.....need any help just e-mail me -----i'm a pro at coloring

FIRST OFF STOP MAKING UR QUESTIONS SOUND SO STUCK UP.NOW IT DEPENDS ON THE LENGTH OF UR HAIR AND THE SECTIONS WHICH U WANT TO BLEACH SO FIND THE LENGTH OF UR HAIR AND THEN BLEACH ONE SECTION. APPROXIMATE THE TIME IT TAKES TO DO THAT SECTION .THEN CALCULATE THE LENGTH OF UR HAIR WITH THE TIME IT TOOK TO DO THAT SECTION AND THERE U FIND HOW LONG IT TAKES TO BLEACH UR HAIR. MY TIP FOR U IS TO DO IT ONE SECTION AT A TIME DON'T RUSH IT.
