Cockatoos love baths! Take your bird into the shower with you and keep the water flow fairly soft and warm. Some prefer towel drying...some love to be dried with a hair dryer (on low temp/air flow, of course!). If daily showers are too hard, try a spray bottle with water that is room temperature. Never aim it at the face and use a soft mist. They think they're in a rain forest! See if that helps! Good Luck!

Cockatoos generally do smell musty - or as I call it - musky. It's one of the things you should learn to love about them. I don't think you'll be able to "wash" away the smell, nor should you try. They do need showers or baths, but certain parrots species simply have very specific odors. My amazon and my Blue and Gold Macaw also have very distinct odors, especially when they are stressed or are outside. Your bird's odor will also intensify in certain circumstances, but get used to it. If you can't stand it, I'll take your beautiful cockatoo!!!!. Just for fun, you should type "galatiel" into a search engine. If you haven't heard of this amazing hybrid, I think you'll find it fascinating :)

You could put a bowl of water in the cage or out side were the cockatoo can get to it. Just like a bird bath. change the water daily. But your bird will bath in it whine it feels the need. the key is like i sad you must keep the water fresh and clean.
