I'd have night terrors occasionally, too. My suggestion is, it helps to talk to your family and friends who are willing to listen and believe in you. Also, make sure that you eat right and sleep at regular bedtime. And you can write about your dreams in a journal. Trust me, it will lessen your nightmares.

Oh my gosh ! I'm so sorry. That sounds scary.
Please don't take this as an insult. I don't know you . But I am just kind of trying to figure it out from my expirience.
Here's a few things to think about ;
Are you under a lot of stress?
Has something real bad been happening?
Here's the part that you may be hard take in , hearing voices that say anything threating or scary is a charectaristic of pschosis - Auiditory hulucinations . It can get very serious if you leave it alone .
You might need to go to your doctor and have them refer you to a psychiatrist. I'm not putting you down or calling you psycho. I'm telling you from my expirience.
I have a history of mental illness . First I had regular depression , then I got real anxious and stressed about major projects and tests in school and then my senior year of high school , I was hearing voices that were gradually getting worse and telling me to harm myself . With meds , counseling and a few hospital visits , I'm doing pretty good . I have my periods of time were things are really bad but I have bi-polar.
If you need to talk , e-mail me at jesse86n@yahoo.com
Hang in there.

According to the reading I have done regarding hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), the brain, when it senses that blood sugar is low, will do sometimes strange things to get the blood sugar (glucose) out of storage and into the blood stream. Adrenaline is one sure way to do this. If the dreams cause you to get an adrenaline rush, then low blood sugar is probably the cause.

Before you go to bed, like about 30 minutes before, eat a small snack. I suggest 1-2 oz of turkey (triptophan - spelling approximate), a cracker or a cookie, or if you are concerned about your weight - a low glycemic carbohydrate, like ½ apple, and also some nuts - almonds or peanuts are best. Do drink a glass of water with this. This is a recipe for some slow burning energy that will help level your blood sugar out for the night.

Your symptoms could be related to low blood sugar. They sound like some of mine, the sweating, the horrible nightmares. You may want to check out www.hufa.org, and click on the symptoms link to check yourself out.

Had that for a 3 decades, every single time I would sleep or dose off. Being Christian didn't help for the first 14 years. I guess it was because I didn't want to believe it could be demons messing with my head. I took the psychological approach instead. Then I learned 2 things. (Hope that this doesn't get to weird for you.)

1. Ephesians 6: 10-18 “Put on the full armor of God…” The helmet (of Salvation) works amazingly, it is like Jesus, the savior’s, hands cover your ears and protect your head, brain, face & neck. I gets real quiet when the helmet goes on. No creepy wispers. It is one of those visualization exercises that doesn't work (no matter how hard you try) until you remember to pray in the Holy Spirit of God.

2. A theology student taught me that there is a hell that demons can't return from. I forget the Hebrew word and couldn't find my notes from 19 years ago (that's why this took so long to type this, I was searching). This only works if you keep focused on God, then tell them "If you are a demon, then go to the hell that they can't return from 'in Jesus name'". At first their buddies got mad and kept harassing me with misfortune (weird obvious stuff too) and of course more nightmares. But a couple of days of persistence, especially with the Armor, and they backed off. Get your armor strong before going to battle. You may imagine your shield small or flimsy at first, but it grows with practice and faith (praying in the Spirit). Oh, and be careful that you don't direct this at dead humans/ghosts, those guys you can ask God to take care of.

Don't go confusing the real person God with man's "religions & dogma". Scratching out a living in this hard world makes the whole spiritual thing look very abstract. But it makes the million-piece-puzzle, this world, more logical when it's creator is giving you clues to solving the puzzle.

I suggest that you try thinking of reallly good things and memorie's before you go to sleep at night. It helps me to think about all the good stuff in my life, and to be thankful for everything. If that is not enough, you can try visualization; it's not really that complicated and can be very efffective. It's almost like you were to put yourself into self hypnosis, but really you just clear your mind and think of one thing that you choose to focus on. When you do that, you just keep repeating that image in your mind; and Volloi' it happens before you know it, you are sound asleep and dreaming happily.

Dreams are just that dreams. But since you are worried, go to the school counselor and ask for an appointment with the school appointed psychologist. Because you are seventeen, you have to take your parent with you if you go to the local Mental health center.
