Really, unless a person's name is immortal for a bad reason, all of the people I know and admire through history were so over themselves- they served and ministered to others constantly and selflessly with no regard as to whether or not people would remember their name or not. They were remembered because they remembered others and put them above themselves.

There are many ways to earn an immortal name.....you can choose either the famous or infamous way. I can give some suggestions regarding the former.
1.First build a foundation on LOVE of GOD.Talk to Him. Tell Him you want an Immortal Name. He will only be too happy to help you.In short PRAY,PRAY,PRAY!
2.Try enduring discomfort for the love of God. If it means separating yourself from what you're doing, be it surfing the net or watching a show/movie to help someone even though it irritates you to death.
3.Try to build charity in your heart....not just the 'giving money' type but being there for people 'till it hurts.
4.Try to dispel all irksome thoughts,negativity and dislike from your heart.Try to embrace everyone with your soul.
5.Always strive to be happy and content and SMILE..... It makes you look younger, makes you feel good and makes others feel good too....and hey!....its free!
In doing these ACTS of LOVE/CHARITY you will gain an immortal name in heaven......your name will be written on God's own heart!
