Here's my question to you: how did you introduce them? That makes a huge difference. If the dog all of a sudden was just there, invading the cat's territory, that was a mistake. The best way would have involved keeping the dog in a separate room, or better yet, allowing the cat to smell something that the dog had used (a towel or blanket, etc.) before the dog was even there. If the dog was even just in a separate room, that would allow the cat to investigate the new smell, without being able to harm the dog at all. That would have allowed her to adjust better. Maybe you did do that, I don't know. You might want to try it now, anyway, or at least just keep the dog separated for now. Also, whenever the cat goes after the dog, squirt her with a spray bottle to let her know that that is not appropriate behavior. Hope that works. Oh, one other thing, are they both altered?

I don't know if this will work for you. But we had to take both our cats that had this problem and put them under Landry baskets with some weight on top. So they could smell and see each other. For an hour or two. Then they were not so bad after that. But 3 months is a long time.

Plus some dogs will not fit under a Landry basket. So I'm sorry if this does not help. Good luck.

I dont know how long it will take.

But when I had a dog and a new cat(that hated dogs) I put them both in her kennel for 20min everyday and in about 3 weeks they were best friends and still are best friends.

I have now added a new cat and a new dog and everyone gets along because they really have no other choice.

Most cats and dogs eventually learn to get along, but not always. I have had a beagle mix for 4 years and he still doesn't get along with my cats. I just keep a baby gate between them at all times. The cats can jump over it and I can step over it, but he can't. I doubt that this will happen to you, though...just give it time and they will probably learn to live together peaceably. It could take up to a year, though. Hang in there.

Some cats never learn to like dogs, they just learn to tolerate each other. I have a 13 yr old cat that was raised around dogs and intimidates them, my 3 dogs are afraid of her. She has never hurt them but acts like she is going to. My other 5 cats get along great with the dogs.

when donkeys fly. I had a 120 lb doberman and a 12 lb cat, And the cat intimated that dog all of the time. Went on for years. My dog could run almost as fast backwards as forwards whentrying to get away.

The dog is annoying your cat. My cat started to do that after she had kittens. My dog was so afraid, she wouldn't even go into the kitchen to eat! We had to put her food in another room. The kits are long gone, but at times my cat still attacks. My dog is good natured, so she just ignores her now. But your cat is only telling your dog she's the boss. Just wait until your dog gets bigger. Maybe your kitty will change her tune then!

Cat naturally hat dogs and especially since you cat feels like there has been an invasion in her home and she is no longer the centre of attention, try seperating them via a puppy pen, have her nails clipped incase she accidently scratches you pups eyes! They will adjust with each other in time, be patient and you will see.
