Pleasure does not need specific occasions! WHile you have all this, you should just go for it whenever you feel happy, whenever you wanna relax and enjoy some good products from the land.

However, is your cognac BOTTLE 20 yr old, or the COGNAC inside aged 20yr old before being bottled? Because Cognac is really not like wine, it does not age anymore after being bottled!

(My dad is from Cognac, I'm french by the way), and yes, it really goes well with a cigar, but the cigar must be quite punchy, if not the Cognac will overpower the cigar aromas....

:)

Age does not say anything about quality but I assume it's a good brand. I suggest you to enjoy the cognac with a good cigar and some snacks. Don't wait for the special occasion only, every sip should be an enjoyable occasion

it seems you dont know much about cogac. Just because you have the bottle for 20 years, does not mean the cognac is aged for 20 years. The VSOP is somewhere between 4-8 years old, when you buy it and save it in your bar for 50 years, its still 4-8 years old. You should give me the name of the cognac and i will exactly tell you how old that cognac is. As i type I am drinking my Lous xiii, there is little bit left, now this cognac is aged for 50-60 years and i had it for 35 years. Thanks for your attention.

After twenty years, it ain't gettin' any better! Cigars are an acquired taste and yes they're great with the congnac, but why spoil the initial taste of the drink? Give it a try solo first. You can also dip the cigar into the congac (the draw end not the lit end). That will add flavor to your smoke!

Cigars and Cognac... classic combo!

It's totally up to you... either save to open for a special occasion, or, as a good friend told me once, open and make an occasion special.

Yum . .. I love cognac! I think you should share it with those who are discerning cognac drinkers, . . like myself! Not too sure about the cigars though. Maybe a really nice cheese platter with things like quince jam, or anything citrus goes well with cognac. Caviar and/or some dark chocolate would go down a treat also!!

I think you should make up your own special occasion. Take your special bottle, a couple of glasses, a full moon, a large blanket, your favorite person, and lay on your back and watch the stars. Cigars are optional.

Question 1) Yes. What defines a "special occasion" is up to you.

Question 2) Yes. I personally have some Cuban Montecristo's I snuck back from London which I love. "Churchill Size". Never skimp on cigars when It come to vintage "adult beverages"... EVER!
And make sure you use the proper glass.. as with a fine brandy.
Trust me, It makes a difference.
ENJOY!!

If I had a 20 year old bottle of Cognac and a good cigar, I would invent an excuse to open that baby up and drink it!!!!! e.g., my dog died, my girl hung up on me, i stubbed my toe, etc....
