There can be many reasons behind the factthat your body retains water. Some heart conditions cause circulatory overload thus retaining too much fluid in the body, too much sodium intake can make one retain fluid as well. If someone is dehydrated and the body thinks that it is "drying out" the kidneys will retain all the fluid in the body it can. Then there is something weird called antidiuretic hormone that can cause one to be bloated. Doctors usually try to figure out what exately is causing the fluid retention. Sometimes it is as simple as just reducing salt intake in diet, sometimes they will prescribe medications such as Lasix to remove the excess fluid in the body. many people use massage therapist if their legs and hands are fluid filled-they use gente massaging toward the heart that will pick up the extra fluid and distribute it all over the body and kidneys to be exreted out. -- I have read some articles and nursing books.

Decrease your salt intake and increase your water intake. The good water will flush the water in your tissues. The level of salt in your body will either increase or decrease the level of water retained in your tissues.
