I am planning a trip to Rome on spring break with students who study Latin. Are the Baths of Caracalla or the Baths of Diocletian better to visit for students?

but y not both?
anyways, if u are really to choose, then diocletian's will be the right choice:a part of them has been transformed by michelangelo into a church, la basilica di santa maria degli angeli, and the other part hosts a bueatiful museum of roman history. of course also caracalla's baths are impressive, but there u will be left alone to explain things to your students and catch their attention: "only" ruins are left.
but really i hope u will find the time for both, they are quite near to metro stops!
enjoy!

The Baths of Caracalla are really a beautiful spectacle; your students really shouldn't miss seeing them. As a testament to the past, the city of Rome itself is a wonderful locale, although nowhere is the concept of the extraordinary in everyday life better shown than at the Baths of Caracalla, I think.

I hope you and your students enjoy the trip!

I'll add that these Wikipedia links are excellent:

Have a great trip!
