You havent really given us much to work with...stain, spasm etc. Ibuprofuin, is a phenomial over the counter pain interferrer which in 400mgs knocks out severe pain. But I suspect you may have more than just pain....Ice in the first 12 hours and heat in the next 12 hours and alternating. cold reduces swelling, heat relives pain. Beyond this you need to offer more info.

Drink lots of fluids for good circulation to the muscles. Soak in tub to warm the blood and tissues. You could massage after warm soak or heat compress for better results than cold muscles. Take an anti-inflammatory such as aspirin.

first 24 hours Ice/ibuprofuin, after 24 hours ice or heat.. A product called "biofreeze" is good, or ice blue. >Soaking the sore muscle in an epsom salt bath might relieve some disforfort. Light massaging.
