Be honest with Him. It's not like He doesn't know what you're thinking! The fact that you're talking to Him will get you an audience with Him. Ask Him questions, tell Him your thoughts, your hopes, your dreams, etc. But when all is said and done, recognize His sovereignty, and end your prayer with something like this: Your judgments are right, your will be done. That's honesty with CONSECRATION. A powerful pair.

For now, pray how you feel comfortable. But maybe you should consider looking into different religions and find one that works for you. Having a structured religion can give a person a bases to work with. In time the prayers you learn will become second nature and when the time comes that you need Him most you will not be left without the words. By the way, I commend your courage you've already taken a big step!
(Just so you have somewhere to start, I included a link that explains the religion that offers me comfort. I hope you don't mind. If you find you might need a friend along the way, please feel free to IM me. May God Bless your journey and grant you the grace to never give up!)

Close your eyes and feel the stillness of your being. In your mind, think of all you have to say to Him/Her and know that God,dess is never far away. In fact, you are in direct contact with Her at all times, and S,he is always listening. S,he knows the inner workings of your heart and knows how you feel without your having to tell her. If you have something to ask for, ask, and know that if it is right and good, you should recieve this, and if you don't, know also that it may not be the right time for the thing to come to you. You should know that you are worthy, no matter what it is that makes you feel unworthy.
If it makes you feel better, you can light a candle and kneel, with hands together; the important part to prayer is to feel connected and loved, and this is something that if you truly want and need, should come to you of your own conclusion, after much discussion and stillness on your part. God,dess speaks to us in all sorts of ways, so be quiet and mindful during your days and nights.
I hope I have helped you, seeker.
Blessed Be.

Just talk to God. You don't need to make a big flowery speech like some TV preacher. I pray while I'm driving! Kneeling, folding my hands, and closing my eyes would be ill advised. :) However, there is a time for that type of prayer, too. But just talk to God. Tell Him how you feel. Thank Him for the good things in your life. Praise Him for His creation. Ask Him questions if you don't understand something. And spend some time just sitting quietly, meditating and listening. Do you go to church? Your pastor would love the opportunity to talk to you about prayer, I am sure. God bless you for wanting to better yourself and your relationship with Him.

There really is no certian way. You must believe that God does exist, and even then, If you tell him that you have doubts then He will help you. Pray Kneeling, standing, or sitting, it doesnt matter, do what makes you feel closer to HIM. Tell him all your fears and needs, tell Him how you feel and ask him to show himself to you. As you do this He will help you grow. I have found it best to pray in a quiet area. Sometimes reading some of the Psalms out of the bible helps. Praise God to and thank him for the good things in your life.
Also are you a Christian, Have you truly belived on God and his Son Jesus Christ? If you haven't then confess to God the things that you have done wrong and ask him to come into your life. Believe that Jesus Christ Died to take your sins upon HIM and that you might have life though him. Then try and not do things that you belive are wrong and read the bible.

I talk to God just as if I were talking to a family member or friend. Sometimes I do it while I'm driving to work, riding my bike or even taking a shower. But if you feel more comfortable kneeling or something else formal like that, I'm sure he wouldn't mind :) Don't sweat it. He loves you and will be happy that you're talking to him under any circumstances ! Many people never do.

I am I christian, and assuming you mean christian prayer. You just need to talk to God as if he was a close friend. Don't worry about using religious words or "the correct way" but prayer how you are comfortable, I like to pray while walking around eyes open still observing the world around me, even praying about things I see. Just pray how you're comfortable and how you would talk to a friend, and make sure to include some time to listen for God as well.

You know how when you were little and you did something bad like steal a cookie or something? ANd then you got caught and maybe meakly spoke to your mom because you felt rotten for what you did? It's kind of like that.. or do you ever talk to yourself? Sometimes that is prayer (depending on what you say).
It's not something you get "good" at. If you truly believe there is a God up there listening, just talk...you don't have to close your eyes, nor even talk out loud. He knows you want to get closer to Him so just tell him so...
For me, it's easy, my first detention in school was for talking too much LOL...guess my teacher didn't want to hear it but the Good Teacher upstairs wants to hear anything His children have to say--no matter how stupid it sounds!

Err, just talk however you want. There isn't any particular method for doing it. Do whatever feels comfortable, if you want to kneel then kneel, if you want to just talk, then talk. It's a personal thing.

Talk to him like you would your best friend. Flowery words and long speeches aren't necessary. If you are new to prayer it can be uncomfortable but pray about that too. The more you pray the more you will realize that God IS your best friend.
