I believe the story of Adam and Eves original sin to be metaphor, so anything is possible. In the least the concept of sex being the forbidden fruit could stimulate some creative ideas about existence and spirituality. Many people do not realize that functionality is one component of religion.

Trying so hard to interpret religious stories as absolutely literal usually yields less fruit than when they are viewed from a perspective of creativity which can bring the story to life, thereby becoming useful.

If Adam and Eve representing (wo)mankind chose to engage in sex instead of focusing on God commands it could be interpreted to symbolically mean they chose a world of material, sensual pleasure, and perpetuation, instead of an eternal, timeless, and spiritual state of being. And this is not to place value on one choice than the other.

Sex definitely was not the original sin. They were commanded to fill the earth with children. It was part of Gods purpose for the earth for them to have children so that the "garden of Eden" could slowly spread to cover the whole earth as the human population increased.

Eve was deceived and ate of the Tree that belonged to God. She took what was not here's to take. She then gave some to Adam who wilfully partook of the fruit. Adam deliberately went against his life giver, Eve was deceived in going against the life giver by a lie that came from Satan

Original sin is disobediance to God's will. In a way it was a setup. God wanted us to have free will. He also wanted us to eat the apple. It was all a part of his plan....I believe. Why, I really don't know.

I suppose you can't just be given paradise with no explanation to why. It's only after we've seen disorder and chaos we appreciate harmony and peace.

There was nothing wrong with the tree. There was nothing special about it either. The knowledge of good and evil was that, they had the ability to disobey God. Before that, they would never have dreamed of doing so. Yet when tempted, they fell.

As far as sex: sex is a holy act. It is encouraged. God told them, "be fruitful and multiply". However, it is encourages in the confines of marriage.

I think that's putting it backwards. God gave two commandments. His first was to replenish the earth, the second was not to eat from the tree. You obey the first by having sex.

If Adam had not transgressed he would not have fallen, but he would have remained in the garden of Eden. And all things which were created must have remained in the same state in which they were after they were created; and they must have remained forever, and had no end.

And they would have had no children; wherefore they would have remained in a state of innocence, having no joy, for they knew no misery; doing no good, for they knew no sin.

Adam fell that men might be; and men are, that they might have joy.

Adam's and Eve's "original sin" had nothing at all to do with sex. They were a married couple, and had been commanded to be fruitful and multiply. Sex is definately part of that!

NO, their sin was a direct, thought-filled action contrary to what God had expressly commanded them. "Don't eat this." It had nothing to do with needs: the Garden was filled with food for them. The Forbidden Fruit had been explained. They chose to distrust God's word, and experiment on their own.

Now we all suffer for it.

No Adam and Eve had already been told to "be fruitful and multiply" So obviously God wanted them to have kids and that requires sex. Sex is a gift from God to married people. The sin was eating the apple in DIRECT DISOBEDIENCE to Gods word. We keep wanting to put our own will in front of Gods will and this is just wrong.

Sex was not the original sin, as God himself created sex between man and woman and told them to procreate. Actually Eve sinned before she ever took the first bite. When the serpent tempted her, she saw the fruit of the tree, and it was pleasant to the eye, and she desired to eat of the tree, (LUST). She saw that the tree was good to make her wise, and to give her knowledge like God, (COVETING and PRIDE). When she took the first bite she disobeyed God, although she had already sinned in her mind. Adam and Eve were created to weaknesses from their very creation....Rom. 8:20 For the creature was made subject to vanity(inutility; transientness; morally depravity), not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope.....Read prior verses in Romans and following verses also. The original sin was disobedience. But God himself made Adam and Eve as weak creatures. For before He created the world and mankind, there was Jesus Christ who was ordained to be the Savior of mankind. And that is the "hope" in Rom.8:20.

this is true what truly happened was that the apple was the body of man and they chose to explore when told not too!
many also suspect the at the apple was the genital area and they both tasted each other when forbidden to do this act so which ever it is not a literal story about an apple not a tree it is about the man and women's loins!!

and looking at all other responses you see none know the proper interpretation which they claim to be there religion and that is fine but they always take ever thing literally when the bible is deeper than they could ever imagine and many must learn to be knowledgeable in what they confess to and understand totally
you are correct you are indeed proper with your interpretation of this sin they TASTED ONE ANOTHER AND ALLAH (Set)!
instructed not too!

I don't think they had sex. In fact, didn't they cover up as soon as they realized they were naked?

I think the original sin of Adam and Eve was that they ate of the tree of knowledge, which gave them knowledge of both good and evil.

Funny though -- even though this story was from the Jewish Bible, the Jews never thought to think of it as "original sin." The Christians invented it so that it would fit in with their theology of threats and bribes: Believe our religion and get eternal rewards, don't believe and get eternal damnation. Pretty clever, no?

Original sin is a lie. Read Ezekiel 18.

Eze 18:19 “But you still ask, ‘Is the son guilty along with his father?’ No! The son did what was fair and right. He was careful to keep all of my rules. So you can be sure he will live.
