the only time your team can touch the ball more than 3 times is when there is a block. If your team has a blocker who touches the ball but the ball still comes to your side, you still have another 3 hits to work with.

Stay in the right rotation. The six players on the court rotate before the new server. I'm not sure how many setters you use on the court, but there are different ways of getting to your position that may look like you are in the wrong order, but as long as you are between the two players you are set up between and as long as you are in front of the person behind you (or in back of the person in front of you), you cannot be called out of rotation. This is a hard concept to type out, but it may be something you ask the varsity coach to help out with. It helps each player be more ready for the ball in time.

don't let the ball hit the antenna....

If you are a back row player, you can't spike the ball if you are in front of the spiking line and the ball is higher than the net. Also, if you are a back row player, you can't come to the net and block.
The back row girls can go anywhere they want to set or retrieve balls but they can't do everything that front row player can.

don't step on the line when serving -
can't serve out of order
the back line can hit from the back not from the front
you can't kick it unless it is 4 man set up
Have fun!!
